Both my son Tyler and I give Captain Jacob five big stars for the incredible experience we had with him. Our outing was outstanding from start to finish. I’m convinced it’s hard to find a better guide in the area. We quickly landed large donkey red snappers and then moved to several other spots to catch various species, especially since we hit our red snapper limit early on. On June 5, 2023, I had the pleasure of fishing with Captain Davide. He has fished these waters since he was nine years old, and his extensive knowledge truly made the difference. We were reeling fish in almost nonstop throughout the day. With his expert planning, we targeted species that kept the action going, including American reds, tuna, and many others. Not to mention a massive wahoo that broke my line—easily one of the biggest I’ve ever encountered.
The day ended with me battling heat exhaustion, Captain David spending two hours cleaning our catch, and us needing three extra coolers to bring everything home. Be warned: the cleaning station can be a competitive place with some tough characters around. Many others were unlucky that day, but thanks to Captain David’s expertise, we enjoyed an unforgettable fishing experience.

Their diet includes a variety of fish and crustaceans, such as gulf menhaden, Atlantic bumper, glass minnows, swimming red crabs, anchovies, shrimp, and squid. To target them, Captain Jacob often rigs live bait, and occasionally uses artificials, to sight fish these challenging catches.
