About Your Guide

The fishing opportunities in Southeast Louisiana and the New Orleans region are truly world-class, and Captain Mike is dedicated to making the most of every moment on the water. For him, fishing isn't just a profession—it's a deep-rooted passion and lifestyle. Born and raised in New Orleans, Captain Mike had the privilege of growing up fishing both the inshore and offshore waters of Louisiana. Having fished extensively in saltwater and freshwater environments across the country, he believes nothing compares to the untouched beauty of Louisiana’s lakes, marshes, and bayous, often called the Sportsman's Paradise.

During the winter months, Captain Mike guides waterfowl hunters in Arkansas, known as the duck hunting capital of the world. When spring, summer, and fall arrive, he pursues Redfish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Snapper, Black Drum, or any other catch that bites in Louisiana’s waters. His family-oriented charter is dedicated to ensuring that every guest—whether friends, family, or clients—enjoys a safe, fun, and rewarding fishing experience.

As a proud father of three daughters, Captain Mike is passionate about introducing more women and children to the joys of outdoor activities like fishing and hunting, making these experiences accessible and enjoyable for all.

Our trip was filled with excitement right from the start! Despite some seasickness among the group, Captain Mike’s kind and patient nature helped everyone feel comfortable and ready to fish. He even provides a convenient onboard restroom for ladies, sparing anyone from having to go overboard. We reached our red snapper limits well before 10 AM, and later caught plenty of trout and redfish. Additionally, we encountered numerous fascinating species like sharks, little swimmer fish, angel fish, and drum, many of which we respectfully released back to the water. It was an unforgettable day!

Captain Mike worked hard to put us on fish even in challenging 25 mph winds—conditions that would test any angler. What made the day extra special was his patience and support for my 5- and 10-year-old children, helping them reel in catches while I fished alongside. His boat offers a smooth ride and a great atmosphere with music that added to the fun. Thank you, Captain Mike, for creating such a memorable first fishing trip for my boys. We’re already looking forward to our next outing with you!

Whether you're visiting the New Orleans area for a fun family outing or you're an avid angler seeking a trophy catch, Captain Mike is ready to deliver an unforgettable day on the water.

On the day of your excursion, you'll set out aboard Captain Mike's 26' Caymas hybrid bay boat, powered by a 300 Mercury engine. This shallow-draft vessel is perfect for inshore fishing, allowing smooth navigation through marshes, channels, and flats with great ease.

Throughout the spring, summer, and fall seasons, Captain Mike targets a variety of species including Redfish, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, Tripletail, Sheepshead, and Flounder. During select months, Snapper and Cobia are also in his sights! Starting from early spring, he shifts focus to the southern edge of Delacroix and the northern deeper marshes and channels, concentrating on Redfish, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, and Sheepshead.

As temperatures rise, Captain Mike ventures further offshore, pursuing bait from Delacroix to Hopedale and Shell Beach, areas known for producing excellent Speckled Trout and Redfish action. When the water warms in spring, he targets cleaner waters where large schools of Speckled Trout and abundant Flounder can be found. Once the water reaches a certain warmth, he explores the outer marshes and surrounding locations to pursue Bull Reds, Speckled Trout, and Tripletail.

Booking a trip with Captain Mike guarantees a dedicated effort to ensure you experience some of the finest fishing possible. Southeast Louisiana truly lives up to its title as the "Sportsman's Paradise," offering legendary fishing opportunities. Get ready for an exciting and memorable fishing adventure with Captain Mike!
