About Your Guide

Introducing Captain Tom, a lifelong resident of Orange Beach with over four decades of expertise in offshore fishing. He proudly owns and operates five charter vessels out of Zeke’s Landing Marina. Tom’s fishing journey started during his childhood, catching bass and bream from nearby farm ponds and rivers, and pursuing speckled trout and redfish from the family dock on Wolf Bay. This early enthusiasm deepened when, in 1980, his father, Captain Gloyice, commissioned a custom-built charter boat. Tom spent his youth assisting his dad as a deckhand and took the helm of his first official charter at just 18. Following his father’s passing, Tom inherited the boat and carried on the family tradition.

After earning a criminal justice degree from UWF, Tom married Kim in 1997. Together, they bought their first boat the next year and fully embraced the charter fishing lifestyle. Over time, Tom has built a family—including his son Garrett, who is pursuing a Master’s degree at Mississippi State—and expanded his fleet continually, upgrading each vessel annually. He’s added a 34’ Crusader to the lineup and, partnering with Captain Brett Russell, grew the charter business further in 2019 and 2022.

One of Tom’s standout qualities is his dedication to mentoring up-and-coming captains. Many deckhands who began as teenagers under his guidance have developed into skilled and reliable leaders. The crew operates like a close-knit family, always cooperating, exchanging expertise, and supporting one another both onshore and offshore, which strengthens the overall operation.

Beyond his fishing proficiency, Tom excels in restoring and maintaining older boats, with deep knowledge of engines, generators, and cutting-edge electronics that enhance safety and success on the water. This mechanical skill has become a passionate aspect of his multifaceted career. Now in his fifties, Tom continues to embrace the outdoors—enjoying hunting, fishing, quality time with his family and two Labrador retrievers, and running a 64’ Viking sportfisher for a longtime friend. He participates in marlin tournaments, travels widely for fishing adventures, and always welcomes a ride on a well-maintained vessel.

What truly motivates Captain Tom is the joy his guests experience, from first-time anglers catching their initial fish to loyal regulars who return repeatedly. His enthusiasm for fishing is infectious, and his commitment to delivering memorable trips keeps clients coming back year after year.
