About Your Guide

Introducing Captain Tom, a lifelong resident of Orange Beach with an impressive four decades of offshore fishing expertise. He proudly owns a fleet of five charter boats operating out of Zeke’s Landing Marina. Tom’s passion for fishing sparked during his childhood, where he enjoyed catching bass and bream in local ponds and rivers, and chased speckled trout and redfish off the family dock on Wolf Bay. This early interest blossomed into a dedicated career when his father, Captain Gloyice, commissioned a custom charter boat in 1980. Tom grew up learning the ropes as a deckhand alongside his dad and captained his inaugural charter at just 18 years old. Following his father’s passing, Tom took over the vessel, carrying on the family tradition.

After earning a degree in criminal justice from UWF, Tom married his wife Kim in 1997. They embarked on their charter fishing journey together by purchasing their first boat a year later. Since then, Tom has successfully raised a family—his son Garrett is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at Mississippi State—and expanded his charter fleet continuously, enhancing each vessel’s capabilities annually. His growing operation now includes a 34-foot Crusader, and in collaboration with Captain Brett Russell, the fleet further expanded in 2019 and 2022.

One of Tom’s remarkable qualities is his dedication to mentoring aspiring captains. Many who began as teenage deckhands under his guidance have grown into skilled and dependable leaders offshore. The entire crew operates like a close-knit family, collaborating seamlessly and supporting one another both dockside and at sea—a dynamic that significantly boosts their success.

Beyond his fishing acumen, Tom possesses exceptional skills in boat restoration, revitalizing older vessels with his extensive knowledge of engines, generators, and sophisticated electronics designed to ensure angler’s safety and efficiency. This mechanical proficiency has become a passionate facet of his already distinguished fishing career.

Now in his 50s, Tom remains deeply connected to the outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, and family time, which includes his two Labrador retrievers. Additionally, he runs a 64-foot Viking sportfisher for a longtime friend, competes in marlin tournaments, and embarks on adventurous travels. Whether on the water for work or leisure, he never misses an opportunity to experience a quality boat ride.

Driven by the joy of seeing clients ecstatic over their catches—from novices landing their first fish to loyal returning guests—Captain Tom’s enthusiasm for fishing is truly infectious. His commitment to delivering memorable experiences ensures many anglers come back year after year.

Guests consistently praise the crew’s professionalism and friendliness. Captain Kyle expertly finds prime fishing locations and provides smooth voyages, while deckhands like Tristan, Fisher, Gabby, Luke, Gavin, and Ben receive accolades for their knowledge, patience, and assistance. Families and groups appreciate their attentiveness, making trips enjoyable even for children.

Many visitors highlight the outstanding teamwork that helps get the rods baited, lines tight, and fish brought aboard. The crew’s ability to turn inexperienced anglers into confident fishermen is frequently noted, with coolers packed full of diverse catches being a common outcome.

Whether undertaking short four-hour outings or longer adventures, the crew’s dedication and expertise consistently create fun and successful trips. Repeat bookings and glowing recommendations are a testament to the exceptional service and memorable experiences delivered by Captain Tom and his team.
