Introducing Captain Tom, a lifelong Orange Beach resident with more than four decades of offshore fishing expertise and the proud captain of five charter vessels operating out of Zeke’s Landing Marina. Tom’s passion for fishing started young, spending countless hours catching bass and bream in local farm ponds and rivers, and targeting speckled trout and redfish from the family dock on Wolf Bay. This early enthusiasm blossomed into a rewarding career when his father, Captain Gloyice, launched a custom-built charter boat in 1980. Tom spent his youth assisting his dad as a deckhand and took the helm for his first charter at age 18. After inheriting his father’s vessel, Tom has carried on the family tradition with dedication.

Following his graduation from the University of West Florida with a degree in criminal justice, Tom married Kim in 1997. Together, they purchased their first boat in 1998, fully embracing the charter fishing lifestyle. Since then, Tom has expanded his family and fleet — his son Garrett is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at Mississippi State. The fleet has grown steadily over the years, including additions like a 34-foot Crusader, and, in partnership with Captain Brett Russell, further expansions in 2019 and 2022.

One of Captain Tom’s key strengths is mentoring up-and-coming captains. He has guided numerous teenagers from deckhands to skilled and dependable leaders at sea. His crew operates like a close-knit family, collaborating seamlessly both onshore and offshore, which is a major contributor to the operation’s success.

Apart from guiding fishing trips, Tom excels in restoring older boats, utilizing his deep mechanical knowledge of engines, generators, and advanced electronics to enhance safety and performance. This craftsmanship has become a passionate complement to his extensive fishing career.

Now in his 50s, Captain Tom continues to revel in outdoor adventures — whether through hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and two Labrador retrievers, or piloting a 64-foot Viking sportfisher for a longtime friend. He competes in marlin tournaments, embarks on adventures, and never misses an opportunity to enjoy a ride on a well-crafted vessel. What truly motivates Tom is the happiness of his clients, from novices catching their first fish to seasoned regulars returning year after year. His infectious enthusiasm for fishing and unwavering commitment to creating memorable experiences keep anglers coming back time after time.
