About Your Guide

Imagine an experienced outdoorsman—someone calm and unassuming, who doesn’t need to boast about his skills, but whose expertise becomes clear right away. This is the type of person who seems to anticipate the movements of trout and knows exactly where to find redfish, no matter the conditions. That’s exactly the kind of guide Captain Chase is. He truly understands the outdoors. When you book a trip with him, you can enjoy flexibility with your starting point.

We had an unforgettable cast and blast adventure with Chase. He uses mobile duck blinds that allow you to position yourself directly where the birds are, instead of hoping the ducks come to a single fixed blind. We explored the area, located the birds, and set up a blind for an evening hunt. Then, while wading the flats, we caught hundreds of redfish, including many keepers. Returning to the blind, we spotted thousands of ducks across the water, though they didn’t come closer. Overall, it was a perfect day—10 out of 10 for seeing tons of ducks and catching plenty of fish. Huge thanks to Chase; we’ll definitely be back!

Chase and Marshall were fantastic guides. They took a boat with three 13-year-olds and an 11-year-old, while the dads went out on a separate boat. Everybody had an amazing time, and we landed two enormous 40-inch bull redfish!

Despite challenging conditions on the season’s final weekend—with tides ebbing and temperatures rising—Chase worked diligently to change up our locations and help us find birds. He even stayed out a bit later to give us more chances to shoot. I’d highly recommend him to anyone interested in hunting puddle ducks along the coast.

Join us for a full day of wade fishing in the beautiful Rockport, TX bay systems, where we will target trophy-sized trout and redfish using a variety of artificial lures. Our tackle selection includes everything from soft plastics to topwater lures, all provided by me. However, you are more than welcome—and encouraged—to bring along your favorite and most trusted baits.

Please note, you will need to supply your own gear, including waders, boots, wading belts equipped with pliers and stringers, as well as your fishing rods. I recommend bringing two rods to ensure you’re prepared in case one breaks or malfunctions during the trip. For beginners, I offer rods and reels at an additional cost of $50 per set.

One important note regarding trout—since the severe freeze a few years ago, many Texas guides, including myself, do not permit clients to keep any trout. This freeze significantly impacted the trout population in the Rockport area. Although the fishery is steadily recovering and there’s plenty of trout action to enjoy, it’s vital for the sustainability of the fishery that we continue to release trout to allow them to grow and help restore the fishery to its former glory and beyond.

I truly hope this catch-and-release policy won’t deter you from joining this exciting fishing experience.
