Hello! I’m Captain Harvey, a professional charter captain based in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, and the proud owner of my own fishing charter service. If you’re planning to spend some time on the water with me, I’d love to share a bit about my background.
Originally from North Carolina, I am a U.S. Army veteran and graduated from the U.S. Maritime Academy. I hold a U.S. Coast Guard Master’s License and am honored to be part of the Pro Staff team for Bass Pro Shops. With many years spent fishing recreationally, competing in tournaments, and serving as a guide here in Ocean Isle Beach, I am equipped to deliver a fantastic and memorable fishing experience for anglers of all skill levels—whether you’re coming solo or bringing the whole family along.
My base of operations is in Ocean Isle Beach, affectionately called OIB by locals, situated just above the North Carolina-South Carolina border. I fish a wide range of areas including the island beaches of Brunswick County, NC—like Ocean Isle Beach, Holden Beach, Sunset Beach, and Calabash—as well as nearby South Carolina spots such as Little River and North Myrtle Beach. Though the region covers quite a bit of ground, these prime fishing locations are easily accessible by a short boat ride along the beautiful barrier islands and beaches.
I offer various inshore fishing charters where you can catch species such as Redfish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, and Black Drum among others. For those interested in nearshore adventures, my trolling trips often bring in Spanish and King Mackerel, while bottom fishing targets species like Sea Bass, Flounder, Bull Drum, Cobia, and sometimes Grouper. My shark fishing excursions are both safe and exciting, focusing on sharks ranging between 10 and over 60 pounds. One of the most popular options for families is my 2-hour Kids Fishing Charter, specially designed to keep young anglers engaged with easily caught species like Puffer Fish, Whiting, Pigfish, Pinfish, and Croakers. These short trips ensure kids stay active without spending too long out in the elements.
Fishing has been a lifelong passion of mine, growing up in North Carolina and exploring waters from the mountains to the coast. I started fishing inland as a child and have developed my expertise over the years. Here are some qualifications and highlights that make me well-suited to be your captain:
