About Your Guide

My offshore fishing journey began in South Padre back in 1986. I started out as a deckhand to build the skills needed, and by 1990, I had earned my captain’s license. For 17 years, I operated an offshore vessel for Jims Pier before deciding to launch my own business in 2001. Owning and maintaining boats over the years has provided me with extensive knowledge on ensuring every fishing trip is both safe and successful. Being a professional fisherman reinforces the importance of thorough preparation for every outing.

Our fishing trips are run with a captain and one crew member, who assists guests by answering questions and managing the back of the boat. I had an incredible time and would happily book again immediately. The crew knew exactly where to go and helped even beginners learn the proper techniques for fishing.

My family of six, including three teenagers and three adults, enjoyed a six-hour deep sea fishing excursion with Todd and Fernando. Despite none of us having prior deep sea fishing experience—and some feeling a little seasick—they were incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. My husband and I had a fantastic experience. Todd was quick to move us between fishing spots to increase our chances of catching fish, while Fernando worked tirelessly and helped the kids and me with everything from baiting hooks to handling the reels. We never had to worry about those tasks ourselves. He was patient and clearly explained all the steps needed to fish effectively.

The boat is well-equipped, featuring a restroom and an air-conditioned area for comfort if needed. Without hesitation, I would book this trip again. We had a wonderful day out on the water with Captain Todd, whose extensive experience and expertise made the trip both fun and educational. Todd and his team did an excellent job, and I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure. If I go fishing again, it will definitely be with Todd!

This was our second trip with Captain Todd, and we’re already looking forward to booking another. Even when the seas were rough and we didn’t catch many fish, Todd handled everything expertly. I would gladly plan another trip during a calmer season because Todd knows the best spots and uses top-quality equipment.

On a Marlin trip, we focus on deep-water fishing ranging from 300 to 2,000 feet, with trolling as the preferred technique. Don’t worry about setting up the "spread"—our deckhand will handle it for you. Trolling offers the exciting chance to catch a variety of species, including Wahoo, Dorado, and Billfish. While sitting in the chair can make reeling in a large fish easier, you’re also welcome to stand and use a fighting belt for added support.

Spotting floating grass or debris often signals a good fishing spot, so the deckhand may ask you to stay alert and keep your eyes open. This trip is geared toward those hunting trophy fish and requires a bit more patience compared to other excursions, but the potential rewards are well worth the wait.

Starting in 2025, we are excited to participate in the Texas FAD program. FADs, or Fish Attracting Devices, are buoys positioned about 50 miles offshore in 1,300 feet of water. These structures provide an essential habitat on the deep continental shelf, initiating a food chain that begins with baitfish and attracts predators such as Billfish, Wahoo, and Tuna.
