Captain Darryll has a lifelong connection to the sea. Beginning his journey as a young angler, he embarked on numerous thrilling fishing adventures along South Africa’s eastern coastline, often referred to as the "wild coast" due to its rugged and untamed waters. These challenging conditions taught him valuable lessons and fostered a deep respect for the immense power of nature. Beyond his South African experience, Darryll has also spent time working on vessels in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the Caribbean. This extensive international background has shaped him into a skilled Captain, proficient in handling both powerboats and sailing ships, and he holds a NAUI Divemaster certification. In addition, Darryll serves as a USCG Instructor, training aspiring captains.
Our Bertram Sport Fishing vessel is renowned for its exceptional fishing capabilities. With a legacy spanning 60 years, Bertram boats continue to be manufactured today, a testament to their superior design, engineering quality, and robust construction. Safety and durability are top priorities for us. The boat is driven by twin Turbo Cummins engines delivering a combined output of 720 horsepower, enabling speeds up to approximately 34 mph. Our typical cruising speed hovers around 25 mph, fast enough to swiftly reach prime fishing grounds in deeper waters.
The boat features an enclosed cabin equipped with climate control thanks to a powerful Northern Lights generator. This setup ensures comfort by cooling the cabin during hot summer excursions and providing warmth on chilly winter days. The enclosed space is a distinct advantage over open center console boats when facing wind or rain, keeping passengers dry and comfortable. Inside, you’ll find a cozy couch, bench seating, a freshwater sink, fridge, toaster oven, and other amenities designed for convenience. On overnight or extended trips, the cabin provides a restful area for sleeping. A private bathroom with a hot and cold water shower, sink, and toilet enhances the comfort of spending extended time out on the water.
No matter the weather conditions, season, or lunar phase, this is the ideal place to be. Our vessel is fully documented with the USCG and holds two essential Federal Fishing Permits. These permits are crucial because charter boats without them cannot venture beyond the 9-mile boundary into Federal waters. Holding both Reef Fish and Pelagic permits allows us to fish in these Federal zones, where species like Red Snapper, Tuna, Wahoo, and Mahi Mahi are abundant.

You can cancel your booking without any charge if done at least 7 days prior to your trip, and the amount will be refunded as credit to your account. If you cancel within 7 days of the departure, your deposit will be non-refundable and retained by the guide. Cancellations on the day of the trip or failure to show up will result in a full charge of the remaining trip cost to your payment method.
All necessary gear will be provided. However, we suggest bringing along sunglasses, sunscreen, clothing suitable for the weather, and any personal equipment you'd like to use during the trip.
