About Your Guide

Captain Phil is an experienced fishing and hunting guide offering comprehensive services backed by over 25 years of deep local insight. He specializes in a distinctive style of light tackle sportfishing both inshore and nearshore. Beyond typical fishing trips, Captain Phil offers thrilling expeditions targeting Tarpon, Sharks, Goliath Grouper, and also organizes seasonal charters for Lobster and Scallops at several sought-after locations throughout Florida. Reserve your outing with him to discover why Florida is worldwide renowned as "The Fishing Capital of the World."

Many guests have praised Captain Phil for creating memorable experiences. For those trying waterfowl hunting for the first time, he ensures a smooth introduction, answering questions patiently and guiding newcomers expertly through the process—even under challenging conditions. Numerous clients have successfully filled their limits for divers, eager to plan follow-up trips.

Visitors consistently describe Captain Phil as friendly and skilled, noting his ability to put anglers on the fish. He willingly shares fishing tips to enhance the experience. Tampa Bay’s fishery is full of action, and choosing Phil as your guide guarantees you not only great fishing but also walks away feeling like you’ve made a new friend. Communication throughout the booking and trip is excellent, with Phil preparing well in advance and offering multiple options to suit your needs.

Families, especially, enjoy trips like lobster excursions where Captain Phil patiently teaches kids the ropes, ensuring everyone gains knowledge and has a fantastic time together.

However, it’s important to acknowledge that not every trip has been flawless. Some clients have reported issues such as insufficient equipment and frustration during challenging moments, like dealing with large sharks or fishing line tangles. These situations led to tension, including raised voices, which some felt detracted from the experience. Notably, a lack of prior explanation on how to handle shark strikes was mentioned, though apologies were offered after the fact. Safety remains a prime concern for Captain Phil, who aims to maintain a secure environment despite occasional difficulties. It’s recommended that potential customers consider these aspects carefully.

Should any concerns arise, the company encourages open communication to find the best possible outing tailored to your group. Most reviews, however, highlight Captain Phil’s professionalism, helpfulness, and success in providing rewarding saltwater fishing adventures—even for first-timers. One guest recounted how Captain Phil expertly guided two novices, answering every question and even delivering excitement by helping catch a large 5-foot bull shark, marking a truly successful day on the water.
