Captain Jarrod comes from a family with a strong maritime tradition, being a second-generation captain. Originally from New York, he made Florida his home in 2014. He shares, "Since my earliest memories, I was introduced to boating and fishing by my dad. Initially, I just enjoyed having bait on my hook and spending time with him. As I grew older, the size of the fish increased, and my passion for fishing grew stronger! While living in New York, we targeted species like Fluke, Flounder, Stripers, and Cod during the winter months. Occasionally, we even participated in shark fishing tournaments. Fishing has always been a significant part of my life, providing precious bonding moments with my father until his sudden passing in 2006."
After relocating to Florida, Jarrod continued to pursue his love for fishing alongside friends and took part in various local competitions. These included well-known events such as the King of the Beach Offshore Kingfish Tournament and a firefighter charity tournament. In 2018, he earned his captain’s license through Sea School. Following his certification, he invested in his own boat, making that lifelong dream a reality.
It was always his father's aspiration to retire and use his captain’s license to launch a charter business, a vision Jarrod now honors daily. His ambition is to create memorable experiences on the water for his daughter, just as he once shared with his dad, while welcoming families to enjoy the same joy of fishing.
Back in New York, Jarrod's favorite catch was undoubtedly Bluefish — known for their fierce fight despite their size. In Florida, he favors Redfish for their powerful strikes, thrilling runs, and unique markings, which vary from one large spot to multiple smaller ones. Curious about how many spots your next redfish might have? Embark on a charter to discover!

Embark on an unforgettable inshore fishing adventure targeting some of Florida’s finest sportfish, including Snook, Redfish, Speckled Trout, and more! Whether you choose a 3, 4, 6, or 8-hour trip, you’ll have the opportunity to challenge yourself by pursuing a variety of species, each offering its own unique excitement and fight.
If this is your first time fishing in Tampa Bay, here’s a quick overview of the key species you’ll be after:
Snook are truly impressive, with their distinctive bold stripe and shimmering gray scales. These majestic fish can grow up to 50 inches long and live for 40 to 50 years. Known for their acrobatic leaps and strong resistance, Snook put up a thrilling fight, especially in shallow waters. They are abundant in Tampa Bay, making them an excellent target for anglers. On plentiful days, it’s common to land multiple Snook, even in group outings. Captain Jarrod delights in witnessing the excitement of anglers landing these powerful fish.
Redfish are among the most popular sportfish in Tampa Bay, appealing to anglers of all skill levels. These tough fighters are closely related to Black Drum and have an exceptional sense of smell to locate prey. Redfish can weigh up to 12 pounds and live for around 40 years. They typically inhabit underwater grass beds in shallow waters and are often visible depending on the tide. Redfish feed mainly on shellfish but won’t hesitate to strike larger fish that pass nearby, ensuring an action-packed fishing experience.
Also known as sea trout or spotted seatrout, these fish feature black spots along their sides and backs, contrasting with their silver underbellies. Adult speckled trout usually range from 12 to 24 inches in length. Trout exceeding 22-24 inches are affectionately called “gator” trout. Their weight generally falls between 10 and 12 pounds, with the Florida record standing at 17 pounds 7 ounces. They frequent grass flats about 1-6 feet deep and tend to stay near mangroves or within deep grass holes. In winter, they may move into waters as deep as 15 feet.
No matter which species you hook, Captain Jarrod ensures a fantastic experience on the water! Trips launch from the boat ramp adjacent to Hook's Waterfront Bar and Grill, with alternative launch sites available upon request.
