About Your Guide

Captain Marc, originally from Palm Beach County, Florida, developed a passion for fishing early in life by casting lines off local bridges, spillways, and inlets, with a special focus on large snook. Soon after, he expanded his fishing adventures to the rich offshore waters along Florida's East Coast. His journey took a pivotal turn in 1995 during a backcountry flats fishing excursion in the Sarasota/Charlotte Harbor region. Captivated by the area's abundant grass flats and mangrove islands brimming with a variety of inshore and nearshore fish species, he decided to dedicate himself to becoming a fishing guide there. A little over a year later, Captain Marc made the move to this remarkable environment.

With more than 25 years of experience, Captain Marc’s enthusiasm for fishing remains as strong as ever. He is dedicated to providing an unforgettable experience for his clients. Specializing in inshore and nearshore fishing, he targets species such as snook, seatrout, redfish, pompano, mackerel, and bluefish closer to shore, as well as cobia, king mackerel, triple tail, and mangrove snapper in nearby waters. Known for his calm and approachable style, patience, and family-friendly attitude, Captain Marc tailors each trip to accommodate everyone—from beginners and children to seasoned anglers and large groups—with the main goal of putting fish on the line.

When asked which fish he prefers to catch, Captain Marc always says, “whatever is biting best that day.” He encourages guests to share their preferences ahead of time so he can customize each outing to suit their desires. He offers convenient boat pick-up options from various locations including Siesta Key, Longboat Key, Lido Key, Anna Maria, and the Sarasota/Bradenton mainland, making it easy for clients to join him.

Whether you are stepping onto a boat with a fishing rod for the first time or are an experienced fly fisherman chasing the next big catch, Captain Marc is devoted to providing an exceptional day of fishing in this beautiful region. Many clients have praised their trips with him—even in challenging conditions—highlighting his dedication to helping everyone catch fish and enjoy their time on the water. One guest described their outing as the “best fishing trip ever” and expressed eagerness to fish with Captain Marc again in the future.

Be sure to bring polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, a lightweight raincoat, and some food. During the winter months, wear layered clothing that can be easily removed as temperatures rise throughout the day. And yes, polarized sunglasses are essential—they not only protect your eyes and enhance comfort, but also reduce glare from the water, making it easier to spot fish for casting and to admire the vibrant marine life beneath the surface.

Sarasota Bay presents a diverse range of fishing opportunities, highlighted by the mile-long sandbar known as Long Bar, where anglers can sight cast for snook, redfish, and trout. Expansive deep grass flats like those near the Jon Ringling Museum, Long Boat Key, and Marina Jacks provide habitats for numerous species including snook, redfish, seatrout, ladyfish, jack crevalle, flounder, bluefish, mackerel, pompano, and others. This variety makes Sarasota an ideal destination for family fishing adventures.

The bay is nourished by three passes—Big Pass, New Pass, and Longboat Key Pass—which facilitate the seasonal migration of game fish such as mackerel, pompano, and bluefish into the bay during the winter months.

When fishing the inshore flats, the primary targets are the “big three” Southwest Florida gamefish: snook, redfish, and seatrout. Anglers focus on the mangrove islands and sandbars scattered throughout Sarasota Bay. This environment is rich with shallow grass flats, extensive mangrove shorelines, oyster bars, and potholes, creating excellent conditions for inshore fishing.

Just beyond the passes, along the shores of Siesta Key, Casey Key, and Longboat Key, species such as bonita, mackerel, king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, and triple tail are prevalent. Sarasota also boasts impressive tarpon fishing off its beaches during their migration in May, June, and July. Further offshore, fishing around reefs and wrecks can yield snapper, cobia, barracuda, Key West grunts, sheepshead, sharks, and additional species, enhancing the overall fishing experience in this region.
