Your Guide: Wayne A.

About Your Guide

Captain Wayne has been passionate about boating since the early 2000s and currently captains a Nauticstar 26’ center console equipped with twin 150 Yamaha engines. His fishing journey in this region dates back to 1973 when his father was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base. Prior to becoming a captain, Wayne enjoyed a 35-year career as a professional chef. His enthusiasm for fishing started during his childhood, spending time offshore in the Gulf. He brings extensive expertise in both bottom fishing and trolling techniques. Besides being an accomplished captain, Wayne is a talented cook who enjoys sharing tips on preparing your catch at home and suggesting top local eateries to savor it. Customer feedback highlights his skill, with many experiencing immediate success on their first cast, catching fish within minutes of arriving at the fishing spot.

Prepare yourself for an exciting bottom fishing adventure with Captain Wayne along the beautiful Emerald Coast. With two decades of experience fishing these local waters, Captain Wayne knows hundreds of prime fishing spots, including reefs, wrecks, and live bottoms scattered throughout the nearshore areas around Destin. Just a quick 15-minute boat ride takes you out to the Gulf, where you’ll be hooked up in no time. Rather than staying in one place, you'll move between various reefs and wrecks, venturing further from Destin throughout the day to maximize your chances of finding the best fishing action.

During these trips, anglers can expect to catch species such as Triggerfish, Amberjack, Grouper, and several varieties of Snapper. If bottom fishing doesn’t suit your style, Captain Wayne can easily switch tactics and go trolling for King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, or even the occasional Mahi-Mahi and Blackfin Tuna that occasionally come close to shore.

Your journey begins at L J Schooners Dockside Restaurant, where you'll board Captain Wayne’s 26-foot NauticStar center console. This boat comfortably accommodates up to four anglers and features amenities like a freshwater shower for rinsing off after an ocean dip, a full head (bathroom), two bait tanks, and an icebox to help keep your catch fresh. To ensure a smooth trip, Captain Wayne provides high-quality fishing rods, tackle, and bait, and he will even clean your catch for you.

Additionally, Captain Wayne takes care of your comfort by supplying sunscreen, water, and snacks, making sure you have everything you need for an enjoyable day on the water.
