Captain Gus has spent his life moving between Colorado and South Texas. When he was a child, his father relocated to the island and each summer, he would teach Gus all about the bay’s intricacies. Together, they explored countless fishing spots, from trout-filled potholes to sand flats teeming with redfish. It was his father's deep love for the outdoors that inspired Gus and set him on the path to pursue a career involving the wildlife he has grown to admire. With guidance from seasoned local experts, including the forty-year veteran Captain Skipper Ray, Gus has refined his expertise as both an angler and a professional guide in the Lower Laguna Madre region. The bay continues to be a remarkable place for him to expand his knowledge and skills. Each day brings new fishing holes and duck hunting locales, and Gus invites you to experience these amazing adventures alongside him.
In the fall, Captain Gus travels north to Crawford, Colorado, where he joins forces with the Homestead Ranch crew to hunt elk, deer, mountain lions, and bears. Homestead Ranch, a historic property maintained by the McLeod family since 1914, showcases six generations dedicated to preserving a truly exceptional hunting legacy. Gus feels privileged to contribute to this team in recent years.
