My fishing journey began at Wrightsville Beach when I was about seven years old, tagging along with my Dad to Johnnie Mercer's pier. The pier was wooden back then, and I vividly recall walking along it, catching glimpses of the waves rushing beneath through the gaps in the planks. As I grew older, I ventured offshore, fishing on boats owned by close friends. After many years of self-discovery and deciding my path, I finally purchased my own boat in 2002. Shortly after, I obtained my fishing license and have earned my livelihood from the sea ever since. What I find most fulfilling as a charter captain is introducing people to offshore fishing for the first time and witnessing their excitement as they catch their initial fish—and then keep catching more.
You can cancel your booking without any charge if done at least 7 days prior to your scheduled trip, and you will be refunded with a credit to your account. If you cancel less than 7 days before the trip, your deposit will be retained by the guide. Cancelling on the day of the trip or failing to show up will result in the full trip cost being charged to your payment method.
Please remember to bring sunscreen along with any food and beverages you’d like for the morning. I will provide all the fishing equipment, ice, and licenses needed for your entire group.
This trip offers a perfect opportunity to test your sea legs if you’re new to offshore fishing, and it’s an ideal introduction to boat fishing for young children.
After boarding, we quickly head to Masonboro Inlet, with lines in the water within 15 minutes of departure. We’ll troll for Spanish Mackerel along the shoreline or up to a couple of miles offshore. On a productive half-day outing, it’s common to catch more than twenty Spanish Mackerel, which are both exciting to catch and delicious to eat. Once we return to the dock, I will clean your fish and bag the fillets for you.
