My fishing journey began at Wrightsville Beach, where as a young child of about seven, my father would take me to Johnnie Mercer's pier. At that time, the pier was constructed from wood, and I vividly recall walking along it, peering down through the wooden slats at the rolling waves beneath. As I grew older, I ventured into offshore fishing on boats owned by close friends. After some years of growing up and exploring my path, I finally purchased my own boat in 2002. Soon after, I obtained my license and have been earning my living on the water ever since. One of the most fulfilling aspects of being a charter captain is sharing the offshore fishing experience with newcomers, watching their excitement as they catch their first fish, then another, and yet another.
You may cancel at no cost up to seven days prior to your scheduled trip and get a credit credited back to your account. If you cancel within a week of the trip date, your deposit will be retained by the guide. Cancellations made on the day of the trip or failure to show up will result in the full trip amount being charged to your card.
Please remember to bring sunscreen along with any food and drinks you'd like for the day. I will provide all bait, tackle, ice, and licenses needed for everyone in your group.
We’ll be trolling between 7 and 12 miles offshore, mostly staying within sight of the coastline, targeting King Mackerel. In this area, a large expanse of hard bottom provides excellent habitat for baitfish, which in turn attracts the bigger predator fish. At times, we may need to cover significant distances to locate an active bite, but that’s the key to my trolling approach — we keep moving until we find the fish. This method is ideal for those who want to catch trophy-sized fish without venturing far offshore or spending an entire day on the water. When we return to the dock, I’ll also take care of cleaning your fish and bagging the fillets for you.
