Our first experience gigging was fantastic! Participants ranged in age from 10 to 78, and although we didn’t find many flounder, we thoroughly enjoyed gigging fish and crabs. Captain Leaf and his son, Cole, were knowledgeable, friendly, and made us feel right at home. Their communication was prompt, and we’re already planning to return!

On another note, I booked a 10-hour offshore game fishing charter but was surprised to find the focus was on snapper fishing. Although snapper can be delicious, I was looking for the adrenaline rush of big game fish. After discussing this with Heather, the management, it was assured that the trip would target larger species. However, when we went out, the fishing gear and setup were clearly for snapper. Live bait was limited, and while we did catch a couple of sharks, the experience did not match what I had anticipated. Despite this, Captain Matt enjoyed the snapper fishing thoroughly.

If you cancel within 7 days of the trip, your deposit will be non-refundable and retained by the guide. Cancelling on the day of the trip or missing it entirely will result in the full trip cost being charged to your payment method.

If you’re new to flounder gigging, there’s no need to worry. Captain Leaf enjoys teaching beginners all the techniques and secrets of this unique fishing method. Whether you’re just starting out or a seasoned pro, you’ll be in excellent hands throughout the trip.
Captain Leaf’s custom 24-foot boat is built specifically for flounder gigging. It features specialized underwater lights that spotlight flounder hiding beneath the sandy bottom. The excursions last about 4 hours and typically take place at night, in shallow waters between 1 and 2 feet deep.
All necessary gear, bait, water, ice for your catch, and anything else needed to make your experience enjoyable, rewarding, and safe will be provided by Captain Leaf. Your only responsibility is to bring your valid Texas fishing license—Captain Leaf and his team will handle the rest!
If you want a comfortable place to unwind after your fishing adventure, Captain Leaf offers lodging at his lodge for an additional fee. Just mention it when you book your trip.
