Captain Blair, the owner, has a deep-rooted connection to the waters surrounding both the Delmarva Peninsula and Hilton Head Island, which he has been exploring since the late 1970s. What began as leisurely boating and fishing outings with family and friends grew into a lifelong enthusiasm. In 1996, he transformed this passion into a career by starting to lead kayak tours around Hilton Head Island. After guiding thousands of kayakers over several years, he earned his boat captain’s license and, by 2006, launched his own charter service.
Today, Blair helms the company’s premier vessel, a custom Freeman 29 center console catamaran. This sleek boat is often compared to the “Ferrari of fishing boats,” offering an exceptional experience on the water. Beyond his skills as a fishing guide, Blair is a personable host with extensive knowledge of the local waterways and ecosystem. His approach remains unchanged from those early days with loved ones: “Every trip is treated like an excursion with my own family.” — Capt. Blair
Guests often praise their time with Captain Blair, highlighting his ability to engage and educate. One family shared how he patiently answered their children’s questions about sharks and ocean fishing, culminating in the catch of six fine tooth sharks. Another group noted how their first fishing trip with young kids was a five-star experience, thanks to Blair’s gentle and patient guidance. Many have expressed their eagerness to book another outing with him in the future.
You can cancel at no cost if you do so at least 7 days prior to your trip and get a credit issued to your account. All necessary gear will be provided. However, we suggest you also bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and clothing suitable for the weather conditions.
Our shorter ocean trips concentrate on the "nearshore" wrecks and reefs, usually within approximately 25 miles from the shore. This option is perfect for those wanting to experience more than just shark fishing.
What truly distinguishes the Freeman 29 is its performance in the ocean. Thanks to its renowned Freeman hull design, it offers a "magic carpet ride" sensation, effortlessly gliding over waves and providing smooth landings. Fair warning: once you’ve experienced the Freeman, other boats might feel lacking!
However, the ocean isn’t always calm. When conditions become too rough for enjoyable fishing, we’ll offer the option to stay closer to shore in the backcountry waters and adapt the trip accordingly. Because we prefer smooth rides, this trip is dependent on favorable ocean weather. We look for days with lighter winds and gentler seas, and when possible, we can often reschedule your trip to ensure the best conditions.
Our fishing strategies vary throughout the year, so feel free to reach out beforehand to learn what’s currently biting and how we plan to target them. Some trips emphasize light to medium tackle trolling for species like king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, and barracuda, while others lean toward live-bait bottom fishing targeting black sea bass, cobia, and other bottom species. Often, we combine multiple techniques in a single outing.
This trip is available in 6-hour or 8-hour durations, with the longer option allowing for extended travel and increased fishing time. If bringing back a catch is a priority, we strongly recommend choosing the extended trip. Contact us in advance for details on what’s biting and our potential targets. Your goals matter to us, and we’re committed to helping you achieve or surpass them!
