Quepos offshore fishing epitomizes the fishing experience in Costa Rica! Since 2012, the Offshore World Championship has been hosted out of Quepos, showcasing why this location is legendary. Year after year, catch and release records are shattered, making every fishing trip a potential record-breaking adventure. If big game fishing excites you, join Captain Tyler aboard his 46-foot Guthrie, a vessel perfectly suited for the rich Pacific currents flowing along Costa Rica’s coast. Many consider these waters to be among the premier sailfishing grounds worldwide.
Fishing offshore in Costa Rica is productive throughout the year. From December to May, Pacific sailfish migration concentrates in the central Pacific region, giving anglers frequent opportunities to achieve double-digit release days. During this period, Quepos is also abundant with Mahi Mahi, Blue Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, and occasional Wahoo. For Marlin enthusiasts, the prime season is from May to October, which also brings substantial numbers of Mahi, Wahoo, and Tuna to the area.
No matter which species you’re targeting, Captain Tyler and his team are dedicated to helping you reach your fishing objectives. Their 46-foot Guthrie Sportfishing yacht is an exceptional vessel with versatile capabilities. Notably, she is the last wooden hull boat ever built by Guthrie and stands out as an excellent fish-raising platform. Powered by a Detroit 8V92 engine, she cruises comfortably at 20 knots.
The yacht boasts an air-conditioned cabin, a full head, kitchen, and two staterooms, making it ideally suited for extended fishing trips in Costa Rica’s central Pacific. Originally brought to Costa Rica by the legendary fly fisherman Harry Gray, this boat was designed specifically to thrive in the nutrient-rich Pacific waters off Costa Rica. It is equipped with advanced Garmin and Raymarine electronics, Rupp outriggers, tuna tubes, a live well, and double dredges for trolling.
Captain Tyler and his crew provide top-of-the-line fishing gear, including Shimano TLD 30 and 50 class conventional reels, Penn 50 and 80 class conventional reels, as well as lighter spinning tackle to suit various fishing preferences. Your offshore fishing experience in Quepos will be outfitted with the highest quality equipment for success on the water.
