About Your Guide

Prepare yourself to ignite the engines and relax as Captain Manuel and Ben guide you on an unforgettable adventure! Originally from Drake Bay on the Osa Peninsula in southern Costa Rica, Captain Manuel relocated to Quepos over three decades ago and has been a fixture there ever since. With 16 years of experience piloting his vessel, he has fished extensively around both Quepos and Los Sueños Marinas. Captain Manuel has a passion for offshore sportfishing, targeting imposing species like Marlins, Sailfish, and Tuna, as well as the challenge of hooking giant Roosterfish. One of his proudest moments was landing a colossal 1,245-pound Black Marlin in August 2008. His expertise has even been showcased on ESPN's Fly Fishing Around the World.

Ben, on the other hand, hails from the small Isle of Man in the Irish Sea, where he grew up immersed in maritime life and fishing. He landed his first Marlin at just 19 years old and has continued to chase the thrill ever since. His record includes releasing Marlins weighing up to 500 pounds across diverse locales such as Kenya, Vanuatu, Mozambique, Mauritius, and Costa Rica. Ben's fishing credentials are impressive, with participation in events like the Quepos Billfish Cup, Marina Pez Vela Open, Club Amateur de Pesca Tournament, Pelagic Rockstar, and Pelagic Inshore Classic. He has also appeared on renowned fishing television programs including The Fishing Line and Hook The Future. Having fished in numerous exotic spots worldwide, Ben brings invaluable expertise to every trip.
