Get ready to discover the abundant inshore waters of Galveston with Captain Jim, a dedicated angler whose love for fishing began in childhood while running offshore charters alongside his grandfather. This passion has blossomed into a career focused on helping anglers land trophy fish. Whether you’re eager to learn, challenge your skills, or simply enjoy a relaxing day on the water, Captain Jim’s goal is to ensure you’re hooked up with fish and entertained throughout the entire trip.
You’ll be cruising in a 25-foot Robalo center console designed to maximize comfort, performance, and versatility. The boat accommodates up to five passengers and is equipped with essential gear, including cutting-edge Garmin GPS and fishfinder technology, a live bait well, a wireless trolling motor for stealthy approaches, and an ice chest to keep your catch fresh. This vessel is a true fishing powerhouse, ready to conquer whatever Galveston Bay has to offer.
Trips range from 4 to 8 hours, focusing on a variety of inshore species depending on the season. Expect to pursue feisty Redfish and Speckled Trout, as well as Flounder, Black Drum, and even Sharks for those seeking a tougher challenge. Captain Jim also frequently ventures to the famed Galveston jetties, where strong currents and underwater structures attract some of the largest and most aggressive fish in the area. These rocky barriers are hot spots for big Reds, trophy Drum, and the occasional Jack Crevalle or Spanish Mackerel.
Captain Jim keeps the excitement fresh by employing a range of techniques. You’ll experience light tackle fishing for the adrenaline rush of battling large fish on smaller gear, heavy tackle for hard-hitting species like sharks and large drum, plus bottom and drift fishing to cover more territory and locate bites effectively.
Live bait is included for bay trips, and when targeting sharks, the first 15 to 20 minutes are spent catching fresh bait—a fun, interactive way to kick off the adventure. All rods, reels, tackle, and lures are provided, so you can concentrate on fishing while Captain Jim manages every detail.
Before boarding, every guest must purchase a local fishing license. Certain species might be regulated or require special tags, and Captain Jim will provide all the necessary information before you head out. Remember to bring non-spray sunscreen, sunglasses, bottled water, and your preferred snacks or drinks. Moderate alcohol consumption is permitted, but please avoid hard liquor, glass containers, and—importantly—bananas.
With Captain Jim’s expertise, premium equipment, and access to both Galveston Bay and the legendary jetties, this fishing experience offers the perfect mix of thrill, education, and camaraderie on the water. The only thing missing is you.
