When he thinks about the difference between fly fishing and spin fishing, he often recalls the iconic moment in Star Wars when Obi Wan Kenobi hands Luke his father’s lightsaber, describing it as “an elegant weapon for a more civilized age.” This perfectly captures the finesse and complexity of casting a fly rod, combined with the detailed knowledge of aquatic insects required to match the hatch – elements that deeply captivated him.
Eager to broaden his fly fishing expertise, Captain Dale ventured to the Florida Keys. There, with the support of a longtime fishing companion and guide, he purchased his own skiff and embarked on the challenging journey to learn the water dynamics, tides, and seasonal patterns unique to the Lower Florida Keys. After gaining valuable experience working for other charter companies to become a well-rounded guide and angler, he felt ready to launch his own charter business.

Payments made as a deposit for this journey cannot be refunded, except in cases where the trip is canceled due to weather conditions. Canceling on the day of the trip or failing to show up will result in the full trip cost being charged to the provided payment method.
Polarized Glasses: Since we'll be sight fishing, polarized glasses are essential to reduce glare and improve visibility.
Sunscreen: There is no shade on the boat, so be sure to bring sunscreen and wear protective clothing to shield yourself from the intense South Florida sun.
Food and Drink: I provide a cooler stocked with ice and water. However, you should bring any additional food and beverages you want for the day.
Rain Gear: While I do my best to avoid rough water and rain, sometimes it's unavoidable. Bringing rain gear is a smart precaution.
Camera: Since most of our fishing will be catch-and-release, you'll want a camera to capture your memorable moments.
Fishing Equipment: All the necessary fishing gear will be provided.

Your primary targets will be Bonefish, Permit, and Tarpon, but you'll also have chances to catch Barracuda, Redfish, Jacks, and even small Sharks.
Fly-fishing in the Lower Keys delivers world-class angling opportunities just minutes from the dock. Captain Dale operates charters out of Cudjoe Key at Mile Marker 21, and he offers trips across the Lower Keys, ranging from Key West and the Marquesas to Big Pine Key and Marathon.

Having fished the Lower Keys extensively, he brings both expertise and patience to ensure a successful outing. While he specializes in fly fishing, he is equally skilled with light tackle spin fishing and provides all the necessary equipment. You are welcome to bring your own fishing gear if you prefer, though Captain Dale also supplies top-of-the-line rods, reels, lines, and flies. There is something special about using your own trusted equipment or even a classic rod passed down through generations—just be sure your gear is up to the challenge. It’s best to have everything ready before leaving the dock, as some of the best fishing happens at sunrise and you don’t want to miss out due to poor preparation.
