About Your Guide

Captain Robert brings more than two decades of fishing expertise in the Florida Keys to every charter trip. He named his charter in tribute to his late uncle’s vessel, the "Kingfisher," a skilled fisherman and captain who inspired Captain Robert to always persevere. Determined to honor his uncle’s legacy, Captain Robert aims to create a new chapter of outstanding fishing experiences. Join him for an exciting adventure chasing Tarpon, Bonefish, Permit, and many other flats and backcountry species across the beautiful Florida Keys. Anglers of all skill levels and ages are warmly welcomed for a memorable outing.

One guest shared, “I had an amazing day in the Lower Keys with Captain Robert. As a first-time saltwater fly fisher, I received plenty of helpful tips. The fishing was fantastic, and his deep knowledge of the area and techniques made the trip unforgettable. As a woman angler, I valued the perfect balance of guidance without feeling overwhelmed. We landed five bonefish during our half-day trip, including some impressive ones that put up a great fight. Although I missed a few permit due to reaction time, I was thrilled to have the opportunity. Already looking forward to my next trip!”

Another group recalled, “Our trip with Captain Robert was incredible! He got us into constant action, including an 80-pound Tarpon and several other hook-ups. We also enjoyed poling through a spot filled with juvenile Tarpon, which was a real thrill. To top it off, Robert took us to areas teeming with speedy bonefish, and my friend and I each landed two. Huge thanks to Robert for an unforgettable day on the water. Tight lines!”

Down in the Lower Florida Keys, there’s much more to experience beyond just fishing! The area boasts abundant and fascinating wildlife, including a diverse range of birds, turtles, stingrays, and dolphins. Whenever Captain Robert leads a trip or charter, guests are often captivated by the stunning scenery of the Lower Keys backcountry, alongside enjoying a fruitful fishing adventure.

Fishing with light tackle on the flats offers excellent opportunities for sight fishing species such as Permit, Bonefish, Tarpon, and Redfish. This type of fishing is both common and versatile, allowing anglers to target a wide variety of fish. Light tackle outings also make for a fantastic day on the water, especially when catching numerous Mangrove Snapper and Jack Crevalle — an ideal experience for kids. Bonefish also present an exciting challenge for younger anglers, surprisingly enough.

For light tackle trips, Captain Robert supplies all the necessary rods and reels. However, if you prefer to bring your own fishing gear, you are more than welcome to do so.
