Captain Spencer is a proud Key West native, representing the fifth generation of Conch heritage. Born and raised in Key West, Florida, he has dedicated over three decades to fishing and navigating the local waters. His passion for the sea runs in the family; his great-grandfather, Captain Ted Canova, was the pioneer of their family’s charter business right here in Key West.

After graduating from Key West High School, Captain Spencer pursued higher education at Florida State University. Following college, he returned home to continue his life on the water. Today, he owns and operates a charter service based in the Lower Florida Keys. His boat, a 25-foot Pathfinder Hybrid bay boat equipped with a full tower and powered by a Yamaha 300 engine, allows access to a wide range of fishing grounds on both the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic sides of Key West.

Captain Spencer specializes in live bait fishing but is also skilled with dead and artificial baits. He adapts his methods to follow fish movements and changing weather conditions to give clients the best shot at landing a memorable catch.
