About Your Guide

Captain David hails from a family deeply rooted in fishing traditions. Growing up fishing the waters of Louisiana, he transitioned into a full-time fisherman with a passion for sharing his knowledge and the thrill of fishing with others. During the winter months, he also uses his skills to lead duck hunting excursions. Now based just south of Houston, Captain David is intimately familiar with the Galveston Bay Complex near Baytown, Texas, knowing every curve and corner of these waters. His trips offer easy access from Houston, and he can’t wait to welcome you to explore these familiar fishing grounds with him.

One guest shared an incredible experience, praising Dave for his thorough preparation that made the trip smooth and enjoyable. With his vast hunting expertise, Dave helped secure several excellent shots and took the group to numerous hidden locations. Even though the early season brought hot weather, they managed to harvest a few ducks, which Dave kindly cleaned at the boat launch. Highly recommended!

Another visitor said they had an unforgettable time fishing with Captain David. As a first-timer in saltwater fishing, the patient guidance and encouragement from Dave made the experience fun and pressure-free. He demonstrated how to bait hooks and supported the guest until they were confident doing it themselves. Throughout the trip, they explored multiple fishing spots and caught black drum, croakers, and red drum. One special highlight was a secret “Hail Mary” spot where the guest landed a remarkable 15-pound red drum, with Captain David assisting every step of the way. They also encountered a mother dolphin and her calf, with Captain David carefully navigating close enough for memorable photos. On the return journey, he shared interesting stories and insights about the surroundings. This guest intends to book with Captain David again for future trips.

On a particularly hot day, another group observed plenty of birds, and despite the challenging conditions, David went above and beyond to help locate them. Although the birds were less cooperative that day, everyone still had a memorable time. David even offered to reschedule the hunt in hopes that colder weather would bring better opportunities. This group considered Captain David’s service the best they had experienced and planned to rebook soon.

One review from a hunting party reflected some frustrations due to low water levels, which made it difficult to get within shooting range. Their guide acknowledged that the water conditions were worse than expected and mentioned they would have canceled had they known earlier. They did cancel the following day’s hunt and felt they should have received a makeup trip. The management responded promptly, seeking more details to improve and offering a discount for a future hunt.

A father and his 8-year-old son had a wonderful trip with Dave, despite less-than-ideal weather and shooting conditions. Dave’s efforts helped them find ducks, creating a memorable experience and eager anticipation for another outing later in the season.

Lastly, a guest noted that although the weather and tide posed challenges, Captain David's determined effort ensured they had a great fishing trip. Praising his professionalism and quality guiding, the visitor expressed a strong desire to return for future adventures.
