Captain David hails from a proud heritage of fishermen. Having grown up fishing the waters of Louisiana, he became a full-time fisherman to share his passion and knowledge, helping others enjoy the thrill of fishing. During the winter months, Captain David also applies his skills to lead duck hunting excursions. Now based just south of Houston, he is deeply familiar with the waterways of the Galveston Bay Complex near Baytown, Texas, navigating these waters with ease. His trips, conveniently located near Houston, offer a wonderful opportunity to explore his local fishing grounds.
One guest shared an exceptional experience, highlighting how Captain David meticulously prepared to ensure a smooth, enjoyable outing. His extensive hunting expertise provided many great shooting chances, and with his excellent boat and access to secluded areas, the trip was a success despite the warm early-season weather. The guest also appreciated David’s help with cleaning the ducks right at the boat launch and highly recommends his service.
Another visitor praised Captain David’s friendly and patient approach, especially as their first saltwater fishing trip. David patiently taught baiting techniques and guided them to multiple fishing spots, consistently finding fish such as black drum, croakers, and red drum. A memorable catch was a 15-pound red drum from David’s special secret spot. Throughout the trip, David offered support and celebrated every catch, even bringing them close to a mother and baby dolphin for a photo opportunity. On the return, he shared interesting local history and sights, making it an enriching experience. This guest expressed their intent to book with Captain David again on future visits.
Despite some challenging hot weather on another outing, Captain David did everything possible to locate birds for hunting, demonstrating his commitment to providing a great experience. Though the birds didn't cooperate, his efforts earned gratitude, and he offered to reschedule, hoping for better conditions.
In one instance, a group of three hunters faced unusually low water levels that severely impacted the hunt, with only one distant duck ever within range. Captain David acknowledged that had he known about the water conditions earlier, he would have canceled the trip. He did cancel the next day’s hunt and plans to offer a makeup trip to ensure satisfaction.
Joe D. shared a positive account of his trip with Captain David and his 8-year-old son. They enjoyed their time despite less-than-ideal weather and shooting conditions, with Captain David skillfully guiding them to some ducks. They look forward to returning for another adventure later in the season.
Another angler praised Captain David for his perseverance when the weather and tide conditions made fishing difficult, noting that David’s dedication paid off with a worthwhile trip. They remarked on the captain’s professionalism and quality guidance and expressed excitement to fish with him again.
