Captain Paulie, a true native of Key West, FL, is a proud 5th generation Conch with deep roots in the local waters. His extensive knowledge of the marine environment comes from his father, Paul Jr., who was a light tackle charter captain also raised in Key West. From a young age, Paulie spent countless hours at the docks absorbing wisdom from the region’s most experienced guides, dreaming of the day he could lead fishing adventures himself.
Today, Paulie dedicates much of his time to being on the water—whether fishing, diving, or enjoying the peaceful sandbars with family, friends, and guests. He is passionate about sharing insights into the unique ecosystems of the backcountry, mangroves, and sandbars. For Paulie, fishing is more than just catching fish; it’s about teaching his guests and families the techniques and traditions behind fishing in the Keys, fostering appreciation for the process rather than simply doing the work for them. “Seeing people get excited about the craft and enjoy the journey is always rewarding,” he often says.
In addition to fishing, diving for spiny lobsters is another favorite activity of Captain Paulie’s, a pursuit that requires skill, patience, and finesse. He also enjoys shelling, searching the shallow waters of the Keys for a variety of shells like cones, cowries, and trumpets. These prized shells often require diving to depths between one and four feet. Regardless of the activity, any day on the boat with Paulie promises to be an enjoyable experience.
Guests consistently praise Captain Paulie for his expertise and hospitality. One guest shared, “Paulie was phenomenal. Despite the dolphin fish being scattered, he located them for us and made it an unforgettable fishing trip—the best charter I’ve experienced in a long time.” Another remarked, “Our group had an amazing day with Captain Paulie! He ensured everyone caught plenty of fish, ranging from snapper and jack to barracuda, making it a fantastic outing for all ages.”
Families love that both kids and adults can engage in the excitement, making lasting memories on the water. “Captain Paulie was engaging, entertaining, and found us the perfect fishing spots, hitting our limits. We’re already looking forward to our next trip with him,” noted a satisfied client. Such heartfelt reviews reflect Paulie’s commitment to providing memorable, fun, and educational experiences for every person who joins him on the water.
Captain Paulie truly enjoys every moment spent with his guests and looks forward to many more adventures sharing the beauty and bounty of Key West’s waters.
