While some captains acquire fishing skills later in life, Wilder was raised with them. Growing up along the Alabama coastline, he has devoted his entire life to navigating the intricate backwaters, bays, and Gulf waters from Mobile Bay all the way to Dauphin Island. Even before he obtained his captain’s license, Wilder was already observing redfish behavior in marshes, tracking speckled trout during ebb tides, and mastering techniques to turn challenging conditions into exceptional fishing days. For him, fishing is more than a profession—it’s a way of life, reflected in every outing he leads.
Wilder’s familiarity with his local waters is unparalleled, offering some of the Gulf’s richest fishing spots. His inshore excursions focus on species such as speckled trout, redfish, flounder, black drum, and sheepshead. Whether you want to sight-cast to tailing redfish, fish with artificial lures, or introduce young anglers to their first catch, Wilder tailors each trip to your experience level and objectives. He is patient with novices, enthusiastic with children, and always eager to help experienced fishermen refine their skills.
When conditions permit and the season is right, Wilder takes guests on nearshore adventures targeting red snapper, mangrove snapper, king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, cobia, and triggerfish. These trips offer reliable action and a chance to bring home fresh seafood from the Gulf. His keen ability to read currents, track bait, and position the boat strategically ensures that anglers have consistent success hooking quality fish.
For those seeking a greater challenge, Wilder also offers offshore excursions, venturing into deeper waters to pursue species like amberjack, mahi-mahi, wahoo, and tuna. Offshore fishing demands expertise and a steady hand, qualities that Wilder consistently demonstrates as he prioritizes safety, preparation, and sound judgment for a worry-free and exciting experience on the open sea.
What truly distinguishes Wilder is the memorable experience he creates. He believes that a fishing charter should be more than just a boat ride—it should become a cherished story to share. Known for his easygoing nature, generosity in sharing knowledge, and genuine excitement when a client lands a great fish, Wilder has earned loyal repeat customers. Families return annually, veteran anglers rely on his expertise, and visitors often come back to Alabama just to fish with him again.
No matter if he’s helping a first-timer catch their initial fish or guiding a seasoned pro to a trophy red snapper, Wilder approaches every trip with unwavering commitment. He maintains his boat and equipment meticulously, stays informed on regulations, and monitors weather conditions carefully. His professionalism instills confidence, while his passion keeps the atmosphere fun, relaxed, and action-packed.
Outside of guiding charters, Wilder remains on the water scouting new locations, experimenting with techniques, and staying attuned to seasonal fish movements. His dedication to understanding the local fishery is a key reason for his clients’ consistent success.
If you’re searching for a captain who knows the waters intimately, respects the fishery, and truly enjoys sharing the excitement of the catch, Captain Wilder is the ideal choice. Whether you’re after trophy-sized redfish, a cooler full of snapper, or creating lifelong family memories, Wilder ensures your day on the water is unforgettable.

From catching numerous species like red snapper, large flounder, and blacktip sharks, to his exceptional rapport with children, he creates fantastic trips that keep guests coming back.
