This was our second trip with Tyler. We came earlier in the spring when temperatures were cooler, but the fishing was exceptional! Tyler is a fantastic guide in an incredible setting. We landed largemouth bass up to 5.25 pounds, numerous fish over 3 pounds, along with some smallmouth. We truly enjoyed our time with Tyler. He guided us skillfully, helped improve our casting, and we caught great fish using both fly and spinning tackle. The Devils River is a stunning destination that’s worth the journey. Tyler also impressed us with his camp cooking skills—definitely planning to return!
The initial payment for this tour cannot be refunded, except in cases where the trip is canceled due to weather conditions. If you cancel on the day of the trip or fail to show up, the entire remaining cost will be charged to your card.
Please bring a hat or cap, polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, and appropriate clothing for wade fishing. If you plan to use your own equipment, we suggest 8-9 ft fly rods rated between 3-6 wt, accompanied by 7-9 ft leaders in sizes 4x or 5x, along with tippets of 5x or 6x.
The trip package includes all necessary fishing gear, a personal guide, snacks, lunch, and water. Kindly inform us if you have any specific drink preferences. Waders and boots are available upon request.
Guided Fly Fishing Adventures for Largemouth, Smallmouth, Guadalupe Bass, and Trout
Guadalupe River
During the fall and winter, we focus on pursuing trophy-sized Rainbow and Brown trout below the Canyon Lake Dam on the Guadalupe River. Thanks to the efforts of Texas Parks and Wildlife and the Guadalupe River Trout Unlimited chapter, this river ranks among the premier trophy trout fisheries in the United States. It’s common to catch trout exceeding 20 inches in length. Tyler provides both half-day and full-day raft fly fishing excursions from mid-October through spring.
San Marcos River
The San Marcos River stands out as one of Texas’s best bass fishing spots. Here, anglers can find abundant trophy Largemouth bass, Guadalupe bass, and Tyler’s personal favorite, Smallmouth bass. We offer full-day and half-day float trips on a scenic, secluded river stretch near Martindale, TX. Few experiences compare to casting deer hair poppers from the riverbank and feeling the explosive strikes of aggressive bass. Join Tyler for a day on this stunning spring-fed river and discover what makes it so popular.
Blanco River
Situated just outside Blanco, TX, the Blanco River is another excellent venue for bass fishing, particularly in early spring and summer. Less pressured than other fisheries, the Blanco River offers fantastic opportunities to catch large bass on the fly. Full-day and half-day float trips are available here as well.
Additional Information
For half-day trips, Tyler provides ice, water, and any special beverages you request, so be sure to bring your own snacks if you think you’ll need them. All essentials are included on full-day trips.
