They are committed to helping establish carp and smallmouth buffalo as recognized game fish and to safeguarding these beloved species.
My friend and I had an unforgettable experience fishing with Kevin and Lee. It was our first time trying carp fishing, and it exceeded all expectations. The team offers an excellent setup, from a comfortable camp complete with fresh coffee to skillful techniques like launching multiple rods with cornmeal baits that really attract carp. During our brief trip, we received plenty of bites and even caught a massive fish! Kevin and Lee handled the catch with great care and captured some memorable photos for us. – Jonathan with Captain Experiences
The adventure was truly impressive. Cory and Kevin were outstanding guides. Kevin’s passion for helping anglers hook their biggest fish shines through in everything he does. Although the weather conditions challenged us during my trip, I still gained valuable insights about fishing in Texas as a newcomer. Even though the fish were elusive and we didn’t get many catches, I would definitely book another outing with Kevin without hesitation.
The initial payment for this excursion cannot be refunded unless the trip is canceled due to weather conditions. Cancelling on the day of the event or failing to show up will result in the full trip cost being charged to your card.
Be sure to bring weather-appropriate clothing, along with snacks and beverages. Don't forget sun protection. All fly rods, reels, and flies will be provided.
Prepare yourself for one of the most exhilarating experiences in freshwater fly fishing: battling massive carp on the fly! These impressive fish are renowned as the ultimate challenge for fly anglers, and it’s not without reason. Hooking a carp on the fly demands skill and patience, making the pursuit incredibly rewarding—so much so, your guides are passionate about it and eager to help you land one yourself.
When you join a guide on this adventure, expect to spend your day wading through lakes and river systems, carefully stalking these cunning creatures. Carp are highly alert to their environment, offering no room for error. It’s either a flawless cast and presentation or a quick spook—most often the latter. But when they finally strike, you can count on a fierce fight that will pull your line all the way to the backing!
During the fall and winter months, you can also target smallmouth buffalo, which grow even larger than carp and are native to Texas waters. For those new to fly fishing, teaching trips are available. These beginner-friendly excursions focus on learning the fundamentals rather than immediately catching fish, but rest assured, it won’t be long before you’re battling a giant carp and running to the backing yourself!
