Join Captain Mike for an unforgettable sight fishing experience on the renowned Mosquito Lagoon, departing from New Smyrna Beach! Whether you’re an experienced angler or a beginner eager for an exciting challenge, this flats and inshore trip offers thrilling action amid stunning waters.
For one or two anglers, Captain Mike focuses on traditional sight fishing for Redfish and Speckled Trout—weather conditions permitting—with an emphasis on stealth, accuracy, and maximum angling excitement. If you bring three anglers, no problem! The approach shifts to using live bait or artificial lures to keep you on the fish and the rods bending throughout the day. You’ll have chances to target a variety of prized species, including Redfish, Speckled Trout, Snook, Black Drum, Mangrove Snapper, Flounder, and even Tarpon if they’re present.
Your fishing platform will be Captain Mike’s 19' Hells Bay skiff, a shallow-draft vessel expertly designed for navigating the skinny waters of Mosquito Lagoon. Equipped with a dependable 90 HP Suzuki engine, the skiff gets you quietly and efficiently to where the fish are tailing. While it does not have a restroom onboard, the boat is ideal for poling the flats and provides an excellent setup for serious light tackle and fly fishing enthusiasts.
Captain Mike offers a broad array of techniques including light tackle, fly fishing, cut bait, live bait fishing, topwater action, and sight casting. All rods, reels, tackle, and live bait are supplied—you just need to bring your preferred snacks, drinks (beer is allowed but please no glass containers), and sun protection. Additionally, Captain Mike will clean your catch afterward if you’d like to take home fresh fish for dinner!
Flexible with departure spots, Captain Mike welcomes anglers of all levels, including kids. And if bad weather strikes, your deposit is safe—no worries about cancellations.
