You can cancel at no cost up to 14 days prior to your scheduled trip and have the amount credited back to your account. If you cancel within 14 days before the trip, your deposit will be non-refundable and paid to the guide. Cancelling on the day of the trip or failing to show up will result in the full trip amount being charged to your card.
If you require any gear, kindly consult with Rex in advance, as he will be happy to coordinate your needs. We also suggest packing sunglasses, sunscreen, suitable clothing for the weather, a towel, a costume, a hat, and any other personal items you may want to bring on the trip.
The overall timeline for this adventure includes approximately 30 minutes to an hour for gearing up and preparation, followed by a dive lasting around 2 hours. Afterward, there is an optional beach braai that can extend to about 2 hours, depending on weather conditions and other factors.
Please coordinate your transportation with Rex in advance. If you don't have your own means of transport, Rex can arrange it for you at your own expense, as he typically travels by motorbike.
This dive is unique in that it doesn’t involve a boat. Instead, we will enter the water directly from the shore at designated spots. Our dive site features the stunning and vibrant African kelp forest and its nearby ecosystems. The variety of species available for spearfishing is vast, including Red Roman, Black Bream, Galjoen (South Africa’s national fish), Mussel Cracker, Blacktail, Butterfish, Yellowtail, Kingfish, Tropical Amberjack, Alikreukel, Limpet, Octopus, Squid, and more.
A valid spearfishing license is required for participation. Please consult with Rex to arrange this; the fee is minimal.
Your guide, Rex, has been spearfishing since the age of nine and has experience fishing in multiple countries worldwide. He is eager to share his knowledge and techniques with you. You're welcome to experiment with your own methods as well. For the best results when hunting your fresh seafood dinner, it’s recommended to remain calm and relaxed in the water, avoid sudden movements, maintain minimal eye contact with the fish, and generally keep a peaceful demeanor.
What distinguishes this experience is the holistic approach: it’s not just about catching fish but embracing the entire journey—from entering the water to preparing and cooking the seafood. To capture these moments, we include an underwater photographer who will document your adventure. Depending on the day’s conditions and dive location, the experience culminates with an unforgettable beach braai, where we cook our fresh catch right on the shore, accompanied by cold beers and lively conversation.
