Hello! I’m Captain Andrew, bringing over ten years of experience guiding fishing expeditions in the Gulf of Mexico. This section shares a bit about my background so you can get to know your captain before heading out on the water!
My fishing journey began aboard the “party boats” near Port Aransas, Texas. Over time, I gained experience working on various vessels at locations such as Fisherman’s Wharf, Dolphin Docks, and Deep Sea Headquarters. I spent a significant part of my career learning under the mentorship of the renowned Captain Marvin Horner Jr. on The Kingfisher. Through years of dedication and passion for fishing, a remarkable opportunity arose that took my career to new heights.
I had the privilege of starring in a Discovery Channel reality series called Ice Cold Catch, available on multiple streaming platforms. This led me to Iceland, where I worked on the Valdimar, a rugged long-line fishing vessel with a seasoned crew. The demanding workload matched the spirit of the hardworking captains and crew, as we braved the harsh conditions of Arctic storms and fished around Iceland, the North Atlantic, the Denmark Strait, and near Greenland above the Arctic Circle. It was a challenging but unforgettable experience that I would gladly undertake again.
My ultimate goal has always been to own my own fishing charter business. I want to share my love for fishing and being close to nature with others. Promoting ocean preservation and responsible fishing is vital so that future generations can enjoy these natural wonders as well. Upon returning to the U.S., I felt it was time to take the next step and introduce everyone to the real excitement of fishing with the Reel Deal!
Here are some experiences shared by our guests:
“We had an amazing time with Captain Andrew and his crew, catching snapper and navigating the waves. They took us straight to the prime fishing spots. When we accidentally left a jacket on board, Captain Andrew went above and beyond to return it to us. Thanks for making my husband's birthday unforgettable!”
“Fishing in the Gulf requires powering those diesel engines to their fullest! Captain and co-captain were fantastic.”
“Unfortunately, our trip didn’t meet expectations and felt like a waste of $1500. There were last-minute changes to the boat and meeting place, and the seas were too rough. We spoke with another captain who confirmed it wasn’t safe to go out that day according to the Coast Guard, which we didn’t know as visitors. The boat wasn’t clean, and my youngest daughter was scared during a stall that lasted about 30 minutes. We ended the trip early. I can’t recommend this experience.”
“Hi Apryl, we’re truly sorry your trip wasn’t ideal. Safety is our top priority, and while no official small craft advisory was in place, we understand conditions may have felt challenging. We’ve reached out to discuss compensation and hope to make it right.”
“This outing was a blast! We caught snapper, gafftop, and two stingrays—one massive! Captain Andrew knew the hotspots, and his enthusiasm made the day even better. Jeff was excellent, always keeping the lines ready and helping out when we got tired. An unforgettable adventure!”
“Booking was smooth, and Captain was punctual and professional. Unfortunately, despite trying multiple reefs and rigs, we didn’t catch any fish. Conditions were rough, and a large party boat crowded our best spot. I usually don’t leave negative reviews but felt compelled this time.”
“Thanks for your feedback, Adam. Sorry to hear the seas were tough during your trip. Captain Andrew tried hard to get you on fish, but sometimes nature is unpredictable. We hope you’ll give it another try with us or one of the many guides available. Let us know— we’d love to help plan your next fishing adventure and hope for better conditions.”
You can cancel at no cost up to three days prior to your adventure and have the amount refunded as credit to your account. If you cancel within three days of the departure, your deposit will be retained by the guide. Cancellations on the day of the event or if you fail to show up will result in a full charge of the trip balance to your payment method.
All necessary gear will be provided. However, we suggest bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, suitable clothing for the weather, and any additional personal items you may want during the trip.
Everything you need for a successful fishing trip is provided—just bring your preferred drinks and snacks. If the wind is below 20 knots on average, with waves around 3.5 feet and swells under 5 seconds, we will likely stay fishing within the bay to ensure safety. This guideline prioritizes your well-being above all. With over 14 years of experience in offshore fishing charters, I have safely captained trips in a wide range of weather conditions without any emergencies. Onboard, you will find a floating GPS beacon, an active TowBoat US Gold+ subscription, and safety equipment that exceeds Coast Guard requirements.
