Captain Josh has been immersed in the world of fishing around Destin, FL since he was just six years old, often persuading his older sister for rides to the pier. With over 16 years of experience running charter fishing trips, he’s well-versed in the waters ranging from the back bays near Destin and Fort Walton to the offshore oil rigs. Over his 20+ years on the water, Josh has had the privilege to fish alongside some of the top captains in Destin, earning a solid reputation not only as a skilled angler but also as someone who connects wonderfully with anglers of all ages. He proudly took home the Captain of the Year honor at the Destin Fishing Rodeo three years in a row, from 2017 through 2019.
Despite exploring many fishing styles and locations, Josh’s favorite remains inshore bay fishing, especially targeting redfish by spot casting in the shallow waters. As a devoted husband and father, he values family deeply and enjoys assisting other parents in teaching their kids the joy of fishing. On his days off, you’ll often find him casting lines alongside his wife and their 5-year-old daughter, who’s already developing a strong passion for fishing.
Joshua was fantastic! We had several young anglers on board, and he was incredibly patient and attentive to each of them. We caught redfish, speckled trout, and Spanish mackerel, making for an unforgettable day. Highly recommend him!
We had a wonderful experience on our outing! Thanks so much, Joshua! Our trip was with Captain Brodie, a friendly and considerate guide. Our group included four teenage boys who are all skilled fishermen. However, two of them spent nearly half the trip watching rather than fishing—not having enough rods for everyone was a bit disappointing. We ended up cutting the trip short by an hour. If you’re looking to catch inshore fish, bring your cane poles and bobbers since the mangroves are incredibly dense. Despite that, it was a blessing to spend quality time on the water with my boys — that’s what fishing is all about! Sure, not every day is perfect, but there are plenty of great days to be had.
