Embark on an unforgettable offshore journey with Captain Ray, specializing in thrilling shark fishing expeditions! Departing from Westport, these trips take you up to 20 miles out at sea, targeting some of the ocean’s fiercest predators—using light tackle for an exhilarating challenge.
Captain Ray’s method is straightforward yet effective: once you reach the fishing spot, he spreads a slick line of chum to attract sharks to the area. When the sharks gather, you’ll fish with a combination of fresh bait and artificial lures to provoke a strike. The excitement truly begins the moment a shark bites—these powerful fish deliver intense, hard pulls and lengthy, drag-stretching runs that will push your angling skills and adrenaline to the limit.
While catches can vary, Blue Sharks are the most common visitors, with occasional appearances by other species depending on sea temperature and conditions. What sets this trip apart is the use of lighter tackle compared to typical heavy-duty shark gear, offering a more engaging and sporting battle. It’s a remarkable way to witness the strength and determination of these incredible creatures firsthand.
All sharks caught during the trip are released unharmed, with no retention allowed. The priority here is the fishing experience, the excitement of the fight, and the chance to observe these majestic predators in their natural habitat. Suitable for anglers of all ages and skill levels, this adventure combines excitement with education, making it a truly memorable outing.
Captain Ray provides all the necessary equipment, including rods, reels, bait, lures, and licenses. Just bring your enthusiasm and prepare to discover why shark fishing ranks among the most electrifying activities on the water.
