From an early age, Joey developed a deep love for fishing, learning the craft with guidance from his father and grandfather. Remarkably, at just 15 years old, he became one of the youngest independent mates aboard a renowned fishing charter in Destin Harbor. By 18, Joey had earned his 100 Ton Captain License. After captaining several boats, he launched his own charter fishing business in 2013. Joey proved to be a wonderful guide and genuinely great person. During our trip, we saw all kinds of marine life including dolphins and sea turtles. Although we booked with Captain Joey, Captain Mindy actually led the excursion and took excellent care of us. She was especially patient with our kids—two beginners—and helped us every step of the way. We caught several fish and missed a few, but the nonstop action and the night-time setting made the experience unforgettable. My daughter even caught a beautiful ray, which made the trip even more special. We would gladly go again, and getting Mindy as a guide would be an extra bonus!
Introducing my sons to bay fishing was a blast, and they’re already eager for another trip. Captain Melissa provided a memorable adventure for my family, demonstrating patience, preparedness, and great care for the kids. We witnessed fascinating sea creatures and enjoyed plenty of bowfishing. Although the larger fish eluded us that night, the trip was well-organized, and the equipment provided made it seamless.

We originally planned to fish with Joey, but a last-minute switch had us on Captain Taylor’s boat instead. Taylor was knowledgeable, patient, and excellent with the kids. Although the weather was cool and cloudy initially, we ended up on fish and had a great family outing. While it was a catch-and-release trip, the experience was still a blast. Unfortunately, our first bowfishing outing left us disappointed. Our guide seemed inexperienced and rushed us off the water, leaving us feeling it wasn’t worth the money. We understand fishing is unpredictable, but the lack of care was frustrating. We appreciate the outreach from Captain Experiences to address our concerns and hope to have a better adventure next time.

If you're coming to Destin, booking a trip with Jayson is a must. Spending four hours fishing with him is more exciting than a week at the beach. Watching Jayson skillfully navigate the waves and catch large fish is truly a spectacle. As they say, if it’s not Jay-son, it’s not worth the trip!
Unfortunately, one guest reported a negative experience with a captain who was rude and impatient, particularly after a minor fishing line issue. The captain was reluctant to engage and seemed more interested in catching bait for future trips than focusing on the current charter. The guest advises others to save their money and find a more professional guide. Captain Experiences responded apologetically, offering to rectify the situation.

You can cancel without any charges if you do so at least 10 days prior to your trip, and you will be refunded with a credit to your account. If you cancel within 10 days of your trip, your deposit will be retained by the guide. Cancellations made on the day of the trip or failing to show up will result in the full trip amount being billed to your card.
