The remarkably fruitful La Peña reef is located just a quick 10-minute boat ride from our docks. This impressive underwater formation rises from depths of 130 feet up to 78 feet below the surface and hosts a variety of thrilling gamefish species such as kingfish, snappers, jacks, and barracuda. Notably, Captain Juan has guided three IGFA world record catches from La Peña.
On the day of your adventure, you’ll depart from the Cangrejos Yacht Club, a private marina conveniently situated only 5 minutes from San Juan’s international airport and within a short 5–8 minute drive from major hotels and downtown.
Captain Juan welcomes anglers of all skill levels and fishing styles! His boat is equipped with everything from 15-pound test spinning rods to 50-pound braided jigging rods, featuring top-tier gear from Shimano and St. Croix.
All trips with Captain Juan include the expertise of your guide (Juan himself), live bait, fishing tackle, bottled water, and sodas for your enjoyment. The equipment provided is of premium quality, including tackle from Shimano, St. Croix rods, Yozuri, and Fathom Inshore. Be sure to bring your sunglasses, hat or visor, and sunscreen! You’re welcome to bring alcoholic drinks, with the only request being to enjoy them responsibly.
