Captain Jon earned top honors in the 2024 Destin Fishing Rodeo, taking home 1st and 2nd place for Yellowfin Tuna. This year’s month-long event attracted over 30,000 anglers competing for the title. Our excursions depart from Santa Rosa Beach in the 30A area, with additional departures available from Destin, Florida.
One of Capt. Jon’s earliest and most vivid memories is of a massive sailfish mounted in his grandfather’s garage. That moment sparked his passion for pursuing big game fish in the Gulf. Having been on the water since he could walk, Jon’s upbringing on Kentucky Lake deeply nurtured his love of boating and fishing.
With over 25 years of experience captaining high-speed "go-fast" boats in Poker Runs across the country, Jon brings valuable skills in handling changing sea conditions and maintaining speed out on the ocean. His fishing career spans more than four decades, making him a seasoned expert in offshore angling.
When asked about his favorite catch, Capt. Jon finds it tough to choose between Yellowfin Tuna near the oil rigs and daytime swordfish outings—luckily, Destin offers access to both thrilling experiences.
DESTIN – The World’s Luckiest Fishing Village
Our presence in Destin was no coincidence. This vibrant fishing locale provides anglers with rapid access to the deep blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Thanks to the advancement of high-speed center console boats, trips to oil rigs off the coasts of Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi are now achievable within 12 to 18 hours. By 8 am, you could be fishing alongside boats that departed Venice, Louisiana, just that morning.
The modern gear and vessels available today make the vast Gulf feel more accessible than ever. Whether you’re an experienced angler or bringing family along for a memorable adventure, our team is dedicated to ensuring everyone enjoys a fantastic day on the water.

Frequently Asked Questions
Experience the thrill of daytime swordfishing, a rare chance to land a trophy fish of a lifetime. Our fishing adventure takes place at depths ranging from 1,500 to 1,900 feet using heavy tackle. The fishing grounds are located roughly 70 miles from the pass, with a boat ride to the Spur and Desoto Canyon areas.
Daytime swordfishing is a relatively new technique in sportfishing, as swordfish were traditionally targeted only at night. We are fortunate to have access to an excellent local swordfish fishery. Additionally, there are eight fish attracting devices (FADs) positioned nearby, enhancing our chances of a successful catch.
If you wish to diversify your catch, there’s also the possibility of reeling in tuna, marlin, mahi mahi, wahoo, and other pelagic species. Water and ice will be supplied on board, but you are encouraged to bring any extra beverages and snacks you might want.
Be sure to pack sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen, and a sun-protective shirt to stay comfortable throughout the day. The vessel used for this trip is a 38-foot center console powered by 1,050 horsepower, cruising at about 45 mph en route to the fishing spots.
All bait and tackle will be provided, and once we return to the dock, the crew will handle fish cleaning for you, ensuring a hassle-free experience.
