About Your Guide

My journey to this area began in 1976 when I arrived here with the U.S. Navy, serving as the Navigator aboard the USS Moctobi in Everett, Washington—years before the current Naval base was established. In 1980, I took up recreational fishing in Puget Sound. About 15 years ago, I transitioned to professional fishing. I spent a couple of seasons working in Sitka, Alaska, and then returned to Puget Sound as a captain on someone else’s vessel. Eventually, I purchased my first charter boat and launched my own fishing charter business. In 2019, I upgraded to a brand-new, custom-built 29-foot Alaska Style Cabin boat by North River, powered by twin Suzuki 300 engines. I named both the boat and business after my beloved dog, Ruby. Your guide can accommodate a flexible starting point for the trip. We had an amazing outing and truly valued every moment! Our group of six landed over 16 fish—a fantastic day on the water!

The fishing seasons are determined by the Department of Fish and Wildlife, guiding the species we target throughout the year. From April through September, there are excellent opportunities to catch salmon, while Lingcod fishing is available from May 1st to June 15th. Our morning trips last 6 hours, departing and returning to the dock; however, if we reach our limit early, we may conclude the trip sooner.

We use trolling as our primary fishing method, as it is the most effective way to catch salmon. Our boat combines speed and comfort, featuring a private restroom and a heated cabin for your convenience throughout the trip.
