One memorable trip included catching over 20 largemouth bass! We planned for an early start, arranged bait purchases, and met at the boat launch as scheduled. Please note, it’s helpful to bring cash for payment to the captain.

“Unfortunately, our deep-sea fishing trip was disappointing. Although we booked a 10-hour excursion, we never traveled more than 5 miles offshore. After a few hours, the captain began returning to shore early. We had to show proof of our booked trip duration, yet we stayed about a mile off the coast. The boat runs on a single engine, the fishing rods felt outdated, and we only used cut bait throughout the day. We also returned to the harbor 45 minutes ahead of schedule. Additionally, the captain’s rude behavior toward the deckhand created an awkward atmosphere. This trip is among the cheapest available for a reason—most guests don’t return. The captain appeared indifferent.”

Sometimes this means heading offshore; other times, it involves staying closer to shore. While we understand the fish were less active than hoped, a few points in your review need clarification. First, Captain Rick uses modern Trinidad gear, not outdated rods. The boat's single engine—a 370 horsepower Yanmar—is clearly noted in the trip details. The captain also had to ask you to refrain from lewd comments toward the female deckhand, noting you appeared intoxicated on arrival and continued drinking during the trip. Moderate alcohol consumption is acceptable, but making staff uncomfortable is not. Lastly, the boat docked about 15 minutes early on a 10-hour trip, and we refunded $100 as compensation, which is roughly 10% of the trip cost for 2.5% of the time.”
