About Your Guide

I moved to the Keys at the age of 21, though I’ve spent most of my life in Florida, fishing and living near the water. For years, I worked on lobster and stone crab boats before deciding to take on a more conventional job. However, my passion for fishing never faded, and I’m thrilled to be back doing what I love and sharing those experiences with others. They say if you do what you love, you never work a day in your life—that’s exactly the goal. Welcome to the Keys!

Today, we tried some inshore fishing, and our guide, Captain Jason, really know how to find the fish! We caught a great variety including Yellowtail Snapper, Schoolmaster Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, Triggerfish, Strawberry Grouper, Amberjack, Yellowjack, and Porgy. Some grouper got away by swimming into the reef, breaking our lines, but overall it was a fantastic day on the water. We also enjoyed watching the Tarpon and Nurse Sharks near the dock while waiting for our catch. Fishing days like this are truly special!

Jay brought a lot of knowledge and skill to the trip, all while keeping the mood light and fun. I brought my nephew along, and Jay was an incredibly helpful guide. As my nephew said, “Don’t ask to catch big fish because you will!” We had an unforgettable outing with Captain Jason, who adjusted locations and gear so we could catch plenty of Mangrove Snapper and Snook. Beyond the fishing, the great conversation and camaraderie made it a memorable experience. As beginners, we felt completely supported throughout the trip. Jason even cleaned our catch and recommended a nearby restaurant that cooked it perfectly. We would definitely book another trip with him.

Jason is not only knowledgeable and friendly but also deeply familiar with the local waters and his boat. I would gladly go on another fishing trip with him anytime. You’re in excellent hands and guaranteed a great time. On our mixed-experience group trip, Jason handled everything expertly, helping us catch loads of fish that we were able to take home for dinner—an absolute 10 out of 10 experience. We’ll be back for sure!

Even when the weather wasn’t perfect, Captain Jason managed to put us on the fish. We caught a nice range of sizes and types. Beyond his skill, Jason is a great conversationalist and clearly passionate about his work. I’d sign up for another trip with him without hesitation. He is a true professional who delivers a fantastic fishing adventure. I highly recommend his service and look forward to booking again next season.

Jason’s blend of expertise and humor makes your fishing trip feel relaxed and friendly—like fishing with a good buddy. The day was filled with plenty of fish and great conversations. We had a blast and can’t wait to return. His passion for fishing and dedication to offering a fun and rewarding experience shines through in everything he does. Jason is also a conscientious steward of the Keys’ natural environment, making each outing special in more ways than one.

We definitely recommend chartering with Jason if you want to enjoy a great day on the water full of fishing and fun. He’s lively, knowledgeable, and knows the local fishing hotspots inside out. We had a great time and will be booking with him again 100%. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced angler, Jason’s enthusiasm and expertise ensure an unforgettable trip. Highly recommended!

Throughout our adventure, Jason was kind, insightful, and focused on making sure we had a wonderful time. He shared stories from his 15 years of fishing in the Keys and taught us about the species we caught. We wholeheartedly recommend Jason as a guide and are looking forward to fishing with him whenever we return to the Keys.

Once we set off, this four-hour trip will take you out onto the ocean. If you prefer or if weather conditions demand, we’ll head into the backcountry, also known as the Florida Bay. Along the way, we’ll explore 2-3 different fishing spots, aiming to catch fish quickly. The boat is fully equipped with bait, quality Penn gear, and everything necessary to reel in whatever bites come our way.

There’s plenty of room on board and ample ice in the cooler to keep your catch fresh. I provide water and Gatorade, but feel free to bring any food or drinks you like (please avoid glass bottles). The T-top offers shade, yet sun protection is crucial. To stay comfortable on the water and avoid sunburn the following day, be sure to bring sunscreen, SPF clothing, hats, and sunglasses.

Once we’re out fishing, we’ll use a range of techniques depending on the location and the species we’re targeting. The key is to set the hook, then pump and reel. If you’re unfamiliar with these terms, don’t worry—I’ll guide you every step of the way. The most important thing to bring is an open mind and a spirit of adventure. Now, let’s get out there and enjoy the fishing experience!
