Hello, I’m Don from North Lawrence, Ohio. Shortly after graduating high school, I proudly served in the Navy as a hydraulics mechanic specializing in F/A-18 Hornet jets. Following my military career, I dedicated 30 years to working in a steel mill, and I’m looking forward to retiring in March 2025.
Being outdoors has always been a large part of my life. For several years, I was involved in filming and bow hunting with a local Ohio group. In 2005, I traded my bow for a new passion: chasing Lake Erie walleye. From competitive tournament fishing to guiding clients over the past eight years, it has been an incredible journey.
As retirement approaches, I wanted to stay active doing what I love most—taking people out fishing for walleye in what many call the walleye capital of the world. Over the years, I have tried different boats but ultimately settled on a 2019 Warrior 2121. This vessel is perfect for a smaller charter and is outfitted with the latest Lowrance electronics, powered by a 250 Suzuki outboard engine, along with a 9.9 kicker motor and a Minn Kota Terrova.
What can you expect on a trip with me? Above all, a fun and memorable day on the water filled with plenty of fish. I don’t believe in rushing—our time will be about relaxing and enjoying the experience from dock to dock. I follow the walleye migration throughout the season, covering waters from Huron to Cleveland, and I’m happy to launch from any port you prefer.

Note: Your guide can accommodate flexible start locations. Don was an excellent captain on our trip. His boat was well-kept and spotless. He explained the best walleye fishing techniques, making the experience enjoyable for our group, especially those new to walleye fishing.
You can cancel your booking without any fees if done at least 3 days prior to your trip, and the amount will be refunded to your account as credit. If you cancel within 3 days of the trip, the deposit will be retained by the guide. Cancellations made on the day of the trip or failure to show up will result in charging the full trip cost to your payment method.
All essentials are provided; however, we suggest packing sunglasses, sunscreen, clothing suitable for the weather, and any additional items you may find useful during the trip.
Our focus is exclusively on targeting trophy-sized walleye. Based on my tournament experience, catching these big girls requires a slightly different approach. This trip isn’t about filling your limit and heading back early; instead, we’ll cull fish throughout the day to keep pursuing the biggest ones. Designed especially for out-of-town anglers looking to maximize their time on the water, these trips run from March through April.
There’s truly no better place in the world to land multiple 30-inch walleyes in a single day. Keep in mind, though, that success depends heavily on weather conditions during this season. What I can promise is that no one will put in more effort than I will to help you catch that once-in-a-lifetime trophy!
