Your Guide: Elliott P.

About Your Guide

Elliott, who owns and operates this venture, has had a deep love for the outdoors since his earliest years. His outdoor adventures began in Ohio, where he hunted across expansive plains and gentle hills, and fished in the Great Lakes as well as local reservoirs. After moving to North Carolina, Elliott broadened his expertise by exploring new lakes, streams, saltwater fishing opportunities, and hunting in the sandhills region. In 2018, he relocated to Texas, fully embracing the Wild West lifestyle. Inspired to share his passion, Elliott chose to guide others, offering them the chance to experience the outdoors firsthand.

Elliott’s skills are on point. He identifies excellent fields teeming with birds, often filling the limit by early morning. Many who have hunted with him believe everyone should experience this type of hunt at least once. His sandhill crane program is exceptional from start to finish. Elliott is adept at tracking birds and calling them in like a seasoned professional, focusing on ensuring a safe and rewarding hunt for every group. Equipped with premium coffin blinds and decoys, he is also a fantastic companion in the field. Clients consistently enjoy successful hunts and memorable times with him.

Feedback from hunters often highlights Elliott’s dedication and organization. One enthusiastic client noted how Elliott had them on fish at every location they visited. After watching the popular show "MeatEater" episode “Ribeye of the Sky,” a group decided to test out the experience for themselves. Elliott and his team were praised for their hard work, arriving early to set up blinds and decoys, and prioritizing gun safety above all. His passion for sandhill crane hunting was evident, making for an unforgettable adventure. Many recommend booking a hunt with Elliott to discover firsthand if the tales live up to expectations.

However, not all experiences have been flawless. One client expressed disappointment upon arriving to find other hunters present, contrary to the expectation of a private trip for just himself and his father. The transport to the field was uncomfortable, and the provided blinds were a tight fit for taller hunters, leading to an unpleasant experience. Although there were opportunities to shoot cranes, permission was never given by Elliott, resulting in no shots fired on a long trip from out of town. Additionally, this client felt overlooked when it came to capturing photos of their hunt.

In response to such feedback, the outfitter clarified that the crane hunts are designed as shared outings, which is typical for this type of hunt and clearly stated in the trip information. While seats in truck cabs are offered for comfort during transport, clients sometimes choose to ride in the truck beds. As for the blinds, recent hunters of similar or taller height have found them comfortable, and Elliott is always willing to assist with any adjustments. Shooting decisions are made strictly with safety and bird behavior in mind, which means sometimes shots are not called to ensure everyone’s well-being. Finally, guides are known to take photos when hunters request them, to preserve memorable moments.
