About Your Guide

Captain Daryl has been fishing the freshwater spillways of southern Louisiana since his youth. Later, he moved to Grand Isle, Louisiana, to explore deep-sea guiding and hasn’t looked back since! He mentions that he never relies on a single fishing technique during his charters. Instead, he adapts each trip to the group’s preferences and the current behavior of the fish. Captain Daryl is both attentive and approachable, eager to help you land fish while ensuring you have an enjoyable experience. Take a look at Captain Daryl’s available dates to join an exciting trip!

Guests describe Captain Daryl as highly knowledgeable, patient, and relaxed. He makes fishing accessible even for beginners and goes above and beyond to help everyone catch their target species. On an inshore trip, we caught every species we hoped for! His instruction is excellent, never making anyone feel inexperienced or uncomfortable. Plus, his great sense of humor keeps the atmosphere light and fun. It truly was the best fishing experience I’ve had, and I’m eager to fish with him again!

The tour deepened my respect for the hardworking individuals involved in the shrimping industry daily.

Daryl is an exceptional guide—patient, informative, and personable. He explains everything thoroughly and made sure we returned with two large coolers full of iced shrimp! We thoroughly enjoyed the trip and look forward to fishing with him again soon. This was my first-ever charter, and I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Daryl again. From the moment we met, his jokes and easygoing nature made us feel like old friends. We quickly found a steady supply of large trout, and every catch was kept—no need to release any. I’m already looking forward to the next trip! Join Captain Daryl for an unforgettable day of traditional shrimp trawling in the vibrant heart of Cajun country! The Louisiana coastline is abundant with shrimp, and Grand Isle sits perfectly amidst the inshore marshes, swamps, and bays, making it an ideal spot to catch some delicious shrimp.

During this immersive 3-hour adventure, you'll experience the time-honored practice of small boat shrimping—a craft that has sustained generations of local families. This hands-on trip encourages you to get involved, so be ready to get a bit wet and occasionally muddy. You’ll help pull in a bottom trawl and then sort through the catch to select the shrimp you want to keep.

Captain Daryl supplies all the trawling gear needed for the outing. You only need to bring any food or drinks you’d like to enjoy while on the water. We suggest wearing a hat, applying sunscreen, and donning polarized sunglasses, along with clothes that can handle some dirt. Don’t forget to have a cooler ready in your car to take your freshly caught shrimp home!

Important Note: Shrimp harvesting is heavily regulated by the State, with seasons sometimes opening and closing on short 72-hour notice. If a regulatory closure occurs that affects your trip, RSGS will not charge any fees for any impacted trips.
