Numerous guests have shared their experiences:
“Our day on the boat was enjoyable, though we didn’t land any fish, so it felt more like a scenic ocean ride than a fishing expedition.”
“Thanks for reaching out, Trey from Captain Experiences here. I’m glad you had a pleasant time despite the lack of bites. Fishing doesn’t always go as planned, but I look forward to making our next trip more productive!”
“We had a fantastic time with our guide, Shag. He was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Everyone caught tarpon, and my 13-year-old son, an enthusiastic angler, called it one of his top fishing memories ever. We appreciate the opportunity to fish Puerto Rico and can’t wait to return.”
“Our group took two boats, each hooking tarpon over 70 pounds, with constant action throughout. Truly a successful outing! Thanks for bringing us to Puerto Rico’s rich fishing grounds.”
“Spent an incredible morning with our captain – highly recommended!”
“Enjoyed fishing with Captain Angel and his team. Hoping to return for more tarpon adventures soon.”
“Unfortunately, our assigned guide didn’t show up at the scheduled 8:00 AM start, and we didn’t leave the dock until 9:30 AM. We managed to catch a few small tarpon trolling, and while there were some equipment issues like a non-working livewell, the guide did his best to keep bait alive. The location was hard to find due to poor signage, and communication about the delay was slow despite repeated requests. Overall, the professionalism didn’t meet expectations.”
“Hello John, Trey here with Captain Experiences. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I apologize again for the delays and communication gaps that morning; this is not the level of service we strive for. I’m glad you still caught some tarpon and that Angel adapted despite the livewell problems. Your feedback about signage, equipment, and communication has been forwarded to the team for improvement. Glad we could connect afterward and work toward a better experience next time.”
“We had a pleasant outing, though tangled lines caused some frustration, and we only caught a couple small fish near the end. It would help if the fishery’s signage and location were more visible from the road.”
“Thanks for the feedback, Dan. Sorry to hear about the tangles and slower fishing. I’ll pass your comment about signage to Captain Angel’s crew. We appreciate you making the best of the trip and hope to offer you a smoother experience soon.”
“The crew took us out even when the sea was too rough for productive fishing. Despite being told waves were 3-6 feet, conditions felt closer to 15 feet, causing all six of us to become seasick within the first hour. We returned three hours into a six-hour trip, and Captain Angel insisted on full payment despite the rough conditions. This was my worst charter experience ever, marked by nausea and disappointment. I cannot recommend this trip.”
“Hello, Trey from Captain Experiences here. We regret that your trip did not meet expectations. Winter sea conditions can be challenging, and before departure, we discussed alternatives like rescheduling or switching to more protected waters. Your party chose to proceed offshore and later requested an early return. Safety is our priority, and we never depart if conditions are unsafe. I spoke with you directly afterward and arranged a partial refund to make amends. We appreciate your input and continue to work on aligning expectations before each trip.”
“Our trip with Captain Shag and his dog Marley was top-notch. Arriving early, Shag tirelessly worked the best spots, chumming and resetting lines for non-stop action. The three of us landed big tarpon and enjoyed his friendly manner, jokes, and hospitality with drinks offered on board. I highly recommend fishing with Shag and look forward to future trips.”
“Captain Shag was fantastic, putting us on fish almost immediately and sharing valuable tips about the local waters. Their support and communication were excellent, and I would definitely book with them again.”
“Though Captain Angel advised a 6 AM departure, our guide arrived late, and the first boat didn’t launch till nearly 7. We were reminded that the prime tarpon feeding window is between 6 and 7 AM, so the late start was disappointing. We only caught a small barracuda during a four-hour trip, making the experience less worth the investment. Despite reaching out to Captain Experiences, we have yet to receive a reply.”
“Hi Joy, thanks for your feedback. We sincerely apologize that your trip didn’t meet our shared expectations. Your trip has been refunded, and we hope to welcome you back for a more enjoyable outing.”
“What a wonderful night trip! We caught tarpon and snapper while enjoying a beautiful evening on the water. Highly recommend!”
“The event was great—we caught various species and booked Luis again for the following day. Luis stayed late to help us land a big tarpon and did everything to ensure success. I will definitely seek out Luis and his crew on future trips to Puerto Rico.”
“Captain Angel and his mate worked tirelessly even though the fishing didn’t pan out. A memorable moment was when Captain Angel baited a rod and helped my 7-year-old grandson hook a tarpon at the marina. He was thrilled and talked about it all night. Thank you, Captain Angel.”
“This was one of my worst charter experiences. We rented two inshore boats for four hours each but caught nothing. The captains seemed indifferent, giving the impression that nothing could be done. It was a complete waste of time and money.”
“As passionate anglers ourselves at Captain Experiences, we understand how disappointing a fishless day can be. We have offered a discount for a return trip in hopes of providing a better outcome.”
“Despite rough seas, we had an amazing time. I nearly hooked a 400+ pound marlin but lost it near the boat. Still, it was a fantastic day.”
“A wonderful day on the water with views of Old San Juan. The boat was fully equipped, and the captain and mate worked seamlessly together. With great gear, a stocked cooler, and plenty of fishing action, what more could you ask for?”
