One recent client shared, “Ryan was an outstanding guide! My first fishing trip surpassed all expectations. His patience and deep knowledge of both the region and the sport made the experience fantastic, resulting in catching numerous trout of different sizes and all three North Carolina species. I highly recommend Ryan as a guide!”

Western North Carolina offers an abundance of rivers and streams to explore, no matter where you’re staying. Most of the prime fishing spots are within a 45-minute to one-hour drive. Some standout favorites include the Nantahala River near Bryson City, the Raven Fork River in Cherokee, and the East Fork of the French Broad River in Brevard.
Throughout the year, depending on conditions, we employ a range of fly fishing techniques tailored to the moment. These include dry dropping, euro nymphing, streamer fishing, and dry fly fishing. If your goal is to catch as many fish as possible, euro nymphing is highly effective. Using just a thin monofilament without a fly line allows you to lift all the line off the water, ensuring a perfectly drag-free presentation every time.
Dry dropping remains my personal favorite technique. Essentially an advanced form of bobber fishing, it’s easy to learn and lets you fish beneath the surface while still offering opportunities to catch fish on topwater. For those seeking the thrill of landing a single large fish, streamer fishing targeting wild brown trout is ideal. Spring and early summer bring peak bug activity, presenting excellent chances to catch rising fish on the water’s surface.
With rivers teeming with caddis and mayflies, dry fly fishing is a fantastic option for anglers who want to experience the excitement of catching fish on dry flies. Every part of your trip can be customized to match your preferences. Whether you want to focus on a specific technique at a certain time of day or tailor the outing to your schedule, we’re here to make it happen.
