About Your Guide

Captain Colt has a true passion for being out on the water and reeling in an impressive haul of fish. A Daytona Beach native, he has been fishing since he was a child and possesses extensive knowledge of the local waters stretching from Ponce Inlet down to the Florida Keys. Spearfishing, free diving, and hunting are among his favorite pastimes. He boasts multiple wins in Redfish and Trout fishing tournaments. Balancing this with his college studies, Captain Colt finds guiding fishing trips to be an ideal job.

Hop on board for an unforgettable fishing adventure in Florida! Whether you want to explore the inshore spots from Ponce Inlet to Mosquito Lagoon, he is ready to take you out for an exciting day on the water. Beyond fishing, Captain Colt also offers guided duck hunting trips targeting teal and diving ducks, with occasional opportunities to hunt puddle ducks. In addition, he enjoys hunting deer and hogs.

You will fish aboard a 21-foot Yellowfin Hybrid boat, designed to comfortably accommodate up to four anglers. Powered by a 200-horsepower Yamaha engine, it can reach speeds exceeding 50 knots. The boat is equipped with top-notch GPS and fish-finding technology to help locate fish quickly, ensuring more time spent fishing. Captain Colt holds a Mosquito Lagoon guide permit, enabling him to operate charters in this renowned fishing area, especially known for exceptional trout and redfish. If landing a large 7-14 pound trout is on your bucket list, you’ve found the right guide.

All fishing licenses, rods, reels, tackle, and live bait are provided by Captain Colt. There is a special live bait option available at an additional cost, which is highly effective. The boat features a live bait well and an ice chest to keep your catch fresh. At the end of the trip, Captain Colt will clean and fillet your fish for your convenience. Fishing methods include live bait fishing and jigging, with gear suited for light or heavy tackle.

Whether you are new to fishing, an experienced angler, or a family with children, there are trips tailored for you. Boat Rule

I have just one important rule on the boat: you must use the sunscreen I provide. It is Neutrogena’s zinc-based SPF 50, and there is plenty available on board for everyone to use. Other sunscreens—including different zinc-based types, especially sprays, and chemical sunscreens—can harm the boat’s gel coat and upholstery, causing permanent orange stains.

The Neutrogena zinc sunscreen I supply is hypoallergenic, offers superior protection compared to many other sunscreens, contains no chemicals linked to cancer risk, and is safe for marine life. This rule is firm, so please do not bring or apply any other sunscreens before arriving.

This trip is perfect for anglers seeking trophy-sized trout and giant redfish. During the summer months, I primarily focus on trout fishing, typically landing between 20 and 60 trout per outing, with catches ranging from 4 to 15 pounds. Many of these trout rank among the largest you'll ever encounter. We fish in shallow waters, usually between one and two feet deep, providing excellent opportunities for these impressive catches. Additionally, I target big redfish, offering a thrilling fight and memorable photo opportunities. Mosquito Lagoon offers a remote fishing experience surrounded by stunning scenery and incredible fishing.
