Hello, I’m Derek, and I run a fishing guide service based in Southwest Missouri. I live near Springfield, an area that’s uniquely positioned just an hour away from seven different lakes. Our service area stretches from the Arkansas state line near Branson in the south, all the way up to Lake of the Ozarks in the north. I’m the primary captain for the business, with my wife and a close friend assisting by managing deck duties, especially for larger groups.
We use a G3 Bowfish 20 boat, designed to comfortably accommodate up to eight people (six guests and two crew members). For those familiar with bowfishing boats, Tracker models dominate the market with their raised deck designs. Back in 2018, G3 introduced their own ready-to-go model, which surprisingly mirrored about 90% of the custom boat I had originally planned to have built. We ended up purchasing the very first unit off the showroom floor and quickly fell in love with it.
The boat features a flush front deck, which easily holds all eight occupants and allows six people to fish simultaneously without any problems. This flush deck enhances stability, while the high sides provide the feel of being on a raised deck. Fully loaded, the boat can navigate in as little as six inches of water, making it difficult for fish to escape, though a few spots remain inaccessible. Unfortunately, G3 has discontinued this robust model, so finding one for yourself might be challenging after you experience how great it is.
Aside from my own operations, I have built a trusted network of experienced guides who often assist with larger group bookings. We have several boats available to meet bigger demands, but remember that organizing larger trips involves coordinating many details, so advance notice really helps ensure your experience is smooth and enjoyable.
At the heart of our business is a commitment to outstanding customer service. As our mission states, “We put you on the fish while delivering exceptional customer care.” This dedication stems from my years of public service as a firefighter, where going above and beyond to help others was a daily commitment. What started as a fishing hobby evolved into a full-time enterprise. I still enjoy fishing solo whenever time allows, but my life mainly revolves around my family and outdoor passions like fishing, deer hunting, and duck hunting.
My firefighting career began at 14 and continues full-time today. Our work schedules provide four days off weekly, perfect for fishing excursions. The seniority I’ve gained helps especially during peak seasons when vacation days are needed so we can keep the fishing business running nightly.
Booking with us means you’re in for far more than a typical fishing guide experience. We aim to send you home satisfied, without feeling shortchanged or disappointed. Having been on numerous guided trips myself, each taught me valuable lessons on what NOT to do. We pride ourselves on unmatched customer service, ensuring clear communication and giving you a detailed preview of your trip beforehand so it matches your expectations perfectly.
We’re not about quick tourist dollars or one-time visits; we focus on building lasting relationships and creating memorable experiences. Whatever it takes, we want to help you make unforgettable memories with us.
Our guides offer flexible start locations to fit your needs. Overall, our team works seamlessly to provide a great outing that you’ll want to repeat. We look forward to fishing with you again!
You can cancel your booking free of charge if you do so at least 14 days before your scheduled trip, and the amount will be credited back to your account. If you cancel within 14 days prior to the trip, your deposit will be retained by the guide. Cancellations made on the day of the trip or failures to show up will result in a full charge of the trip cost to your card.
Depending on the weather, you may want to bring a jacket to stay warm during the night. Apart from that, all drinks and equipment are provided. You only need to arrive with a valid Missouri fishing license. The trip price covers everything, with no additional fees.
We offer bowfishing adventures across all waterways in Southern Missouri, from Branson to the Lake of the Ozarks. This exciting and rapidly growing sport combines archery skills with the challenge of targeting invasive fish species. Whether you're an experienced bowfisher or a complete beginner, we welcome individuals of all ages and backgrounds to join us. Bowfishing is an excellent choice for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, bachelor, or bachelorette parties.
Most trips begin at sunset, although daytime outings are also available at various times throughout the season. Each trip lasts about four hours, during which we customize bows to suit each participant and provide ample time for practice before heading out on the water. Our bowfishing excursions are available year-round, provided the air temperature stays above 32°F. The prime season typically runs from April, when the water starts to warm, through October, until the first freeze arrives.
