About Your Guide

Scott has been an avid fly fisherman in the Kings River and the surrounding waters of Sequoia National Forest for more than two decades. As a professional guide, he focuses on fly fishing the Kings River, bringing unparalleled local expertise to every trip. Scott is a graduate of the Clearwater Guide School in Northern California and currently lives and works full-time at Hume Lake Christian Camps. The Kings River, his favorite freestone river, is teeming with Rainbow and Brown Trout, and the stunning views at every turn make the experience even more special.

Whether you're just starting out in fly fishing or already skilled, Scott is an excellent instructor and guide. He delights in sharing his enthusiasm for the sport with beginners and enjoys discussing local insect life and fishing techniques with seasoned anglers. A day spent fishing with Scott promises fun, laughter, and a positive atmosphere — plus plenty of fish! He is also flexible with pick-up locations to accommodate your needs.

Our time with Scott was fantastic! He demonstrated patience, extensive knowledge, and a friendly demeanor throughout our trip. We plan to hire him again next time we're in the area.

Scott made our trip truly memorable. From the moment we booked, he was communicative, adaptable, and super passionate about fly fishing. His clear and thorough teaching helped us catch numerous fish and enjoy an outstanding morning on the river. Huge thanks to Scott—highly recommended!

If you're searching for an extraordinary day on the water, your quest ends here. Scott, a graduate of Northern California's Clearwater Guide School, is the top expert on the Kings River, knowing its waters better than anyone else.

With Scott as your guide, you’ll have the opportunity to challenge large Brown and Rainbow trout in one of the most picturesque settings in the United States. Enjoy a relaxing experience while reeling in plenty of fish!

Scott supplies everything needed for an unforgettable fishing adventure. His passion for fishing shines through his fly-tying expertise, so expect to experiment with a variety of flies until the fish start biting. He is dedicated to giving you the best chance to catch numerous fish and have a great time doing it.

The ideal times for fishing on the river are summer and fall, with much of winter also available on the lower stretches. By summer, the high spring flows have diminished, water levels stabilize for easier wading, and fish activity increases. If the Lower Kings River becomes too warm during summer, you can visit the Upper Kings, where temperatures are generally cooler and more comfortable.

All you need to bring is sun protection and a valid California Fishing License—Scott takes care of the rest. Get ready to enjoy an amazing fishing experience!

Important Notice: We are currently awaiting the reopening of Kings Canyon. Cal Trans has been working throughout the winter on Highway 180 leading into Cedar Grove to prepare for summer access. The expected reopening is around mid-May, though details are still pending. Updates will be posted as soon as more information is available.
