Fishing these waters has been a part of my life since childhood, and my dream has always been to fish professionally. After many years competing in tournaments, I proudly qualified for the 2006 Bassmaster Classic. Following that, I spent several years fishing nationwide as an Elite Series angler—an incredible journey that I will cherish forever.
While the national tournament scene was exciting, my heart truly belongs to the local waters of South Louisiana. With extensive experience navigating these waters, I’ve developed an expert understanding of the tides and fish behavior. One memorable trip coincided with a solar eclipse around 1:30 pm, making the day unpredictable. We initially caught a few quality trout in the morning, but the real action exploded shortly before the eclipse. Within about 30 minutes at 1 p.m., the trout bite turned on, and we filled our limit with several fish over 24 inches released back into the water. It was truly an unforgettable day. You may cancel without any charges if you do so at least three days prior to your scheduled trip, and the amount will be credited back to your account. If you cancel within three days of the trip, your deposit will be non-refundable and given to the guide. Cancellations on the day of the trip or failure to show up will result in the full trip cost being billed to your card.

Just a 20-minute drive from the French Quarter, you can hop aboard with Captain James for an unforgettable fishing adventure on Lake Pontchartrain and its surrounding backwater marshes. Target species include Redfish, Trout, and Drum, all guided expertly by Captain James.
These full-day excursions depart from "The Dock" in Slidell around 6 to 6:30 a.m. and typically last until about 1 p.m., often extending a bit longer. Captain James prioritizes the thrill of catching fish over keeping strict track of time. Launching from The Dock gives you quick access to prime fishing locations that Captain James knows intimately.
During the trip, you'll engage in extensive sight casting using a variety of techniques including artificials, live bait, and popping corks. On Lake Pontchartrain, you’ll also have the chance to drift along the bay and target Captain James' secret "honeyholes."
Remember to bring a valid Louisiana fishing license. Captain James will supply all necessary fishing gear—rods, reels, bait—as well as water, sports drinks, and light snacks. At the end of the day, he’ll even clean your catch for you. To make the most of your trip, he suggests bringing sun protection like sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats, along with bug spray and rain gear just in case.
